Astoria walked up to Gilbert outside by his horse. The snow crunched under her feet as she walked, but she held up her dress as to not make it wet.

"You aren't going to school today?" Astoria questioned.

"I feel like I should... I should stay close." Gilbert replied.

Astoria sighed and nodded her head, rubbing his arm in comfort. She said nothing to him, knowing that once he made his mind up about something that nothing will stop him.

When she walked back, Astoria headed to make some breakfast for her brother as well. Once she finished, Gilbert had just walked back inside from grooming his horse.

"Just in time. I made you breakfast." Astoria said, placing the food on the table.

"Thank you." Gilbert smiled and happily ate his sister's amazing cooking. "It's a wonder how you got this good, when I'm so horrible."

"I practiced. You, however, had no reason to." She replied, cleaning the dishes.

A knocking sounded at the door; however, Astoria couldn't hear it because she was upstairs cleaning. Though, she did hear the door being opened and her father's voice. This made her rush downstairs to see a girl with red hair outside of the door.

"What are you doing out of bed?" Astoria questioned.

"This young lady was knocking and I didn't see you or Gilbert running to the door." He joked.

"Father." She reprimanded. "You need to be in bed, you know this."

"Dad, what are you doing?" Gilbert asked from behind the red headed girl, carrying fire wood. "You shouldn't be walking."

"That's exactly what I asked him. I was about to take him back to bed." Astoria glares at her father.

"My children worry too much. It seems this young lady has urgent business with you, Gil." Their father said.

"I'll take him to bed, you worry about your friend." Astoria tells Gilbert.

"No, I-I-I-I can go in on my own." He told Astoria. "It was nice to meet you. Give my kind regards to Marilla."

"I will. Of course, Mr. Blythe." The girl told him.

"We both know you can't, father." They bicker all the way into his bedroom.

"Now, I'll go check on Gilbert. You stay put." Astoria said.

"Mr. Phillips doesn't want you falling behind." Astoria heard her say to Gilbert.

"I don't, either." He responded.

"I'm sorry to interrupt. You must be Anne, it's nice to meet you." Astoria puts her hand out to shake Anne's. "My brother talks about you all the time."

"Brother?" Anne questions. "You must be Astoria. I've heard a lot about you from my classmates, you sound marvelous. And you're even more beautiful than they said."

"Why, thank you." Astoria smiles. "Your red hair is just magnificent. I wish mine was just as wonderful. Well, I must get back in. It was nice meeting you."

"Nice to meet you, too." Anne replied.

Astoria walked back into the house and continued cleaning upstairs, as she hadn't quite finished when Anne knocked on the door.
