The door opening sounded, making Astoria confused. Tom was up in his, or Gilbert's, room and she was not expecting anyone. Quickly, she rushed down the stairs. Once down there, her eyes widened.

"Gilbert!" Astoria yelled, running over and giving her brother a hug. "I thought you weren't coming back, you wrote-"

"I know what I wrote but... I had a change of heart." Gilbert replied, hugging her back. "And I actually wanted you to meet someone. Astoria, this is my friend Bash. Bash, this is my sister Astoria."

Looking to Gilbert's side, Astoria saw a man with dark skin and hair. He looked very welcoming and so, Astoria greeted him with a kind smile.

"It's nice to meet you, Bash." Astoria put her hand out for him to shake. "If I knew you'd be coming I would have looked more presentable."

"Oh, it's quite alright." Bash responded, taking her hand. "I'm just happy to be out of the cold."

"Well, make yourself at home. Though, I do have to warn you. I have a gue-"

Before Astoria could finish her sentence, a voice was heard from upstairs. A male voice.

"Who was at the door?" The male voice called.

"Tom, could you come down here please?" She ignored his question, calling for him instead.

"Who is Tom?" Gilbert questioned, looking confused.

"What did you need?" Tom asked, before looking up at the two men in the kitchen. "Oh, hello. I didn't know we'd have company."

"Gilbert, Bash, this is my friend Tom. He was helping me with the upkeep while you were away. Tom, this is my brother Gilbert and his friend Bash." Astoria introduces.

"Gilbert? I thought he wasn't coming back?" Tom questions, staring at Astoria.

"I thought that too. But he had second thoughts." She smiled.

"Nice to meet you." Tom puts his hand out, shaking both Gilbert's and Bash's hands.

"Tom, do you think I can talk to you. In private?" Astoria asked him.

"Yeah, of course." Tom replied.

"Gilbert, Bash, stay right here. You can have some bread or biscuits while you wait, and there is tea ready if you want some." Astoria told them, walking to another room with Tom.

"What is it?" Tom asked.

"I wanted to tell you that now that my brother and his friend are here... I won't be needing your assistance." She sighs, looking away from him. "You will get paid by tomorrow, so you can leave after that."

"Oh..." He trailed off. "I guess I expected something like this, I just didn't realize it would be so soon."

"I really am sorry." Astoria pulls him in for a hug.

"No, it's alright. It's not like we won't ever see each other again." He laughed, hugging her back.

"Gilbert, if you aren't ready in one minute we'll be late!" Astoria called to her brother.

"Give me a second, Tori!" Gilbert called back.

Astoria smiled to herself. Gilbert hadn't called her that since their father died because it reminded him to much of him. Bash walked into the room and smiled at Astoria.

"Morning." Bash said to her.

"Good morning. I made some breakfast if you're hungry." She responded.

"You are a lifesaver, thank you." He sat down quickly and began to eat.

Astoria laughed at him, but she turned her head once she heard Gilbert coming down the stairs. Crossing her arms, she stared at him.

"Well well, look who finally decided to show up." Astoria taunted.

"Haha, very funny." Gilbert fake laughed.

He grabbed Astoria and dragged her outside, making the two of them start to walk to school.
