Oh no we did it again. I knew for sure this time I had to go to the nearest pharmacy. Trying not to wake Nick I made my way to the bathroom to get dressed. I could hear Joe downstairs already; thank god.
"Joe can I borrow your car?" I say racing into the kitchen
"Sure" he says without hesitation "but won't you get lost around here?"
"No, I just need to go around the corner"
"Okay, wait up"
He looks through a drawer and hands me a spare key.
"Thanks be back"
I grabbed my cardigan and headed out the door quickly not wanting Joe to suspect a thing; the sooner I came back the better. Thankfully the drive was like ten minutes to Walgreens.
Okay I can do this. I get out of Joe's Range Rover and put on my sunglasses as I head inside of the store. I can only imagine who I would run into here. Soon enough I find the isle I was searching for and had no idea what I was looking for!! Pregnancy test where so confusing therefore I grabbed a cheap and expensive one, also a drink.
I pulled up my shades to pay and my cashier ended up being a black haired girl like me. When I handed her my items she smiled at me but didn't look me in the eyes; girl I feel the same.
"You know you can use the bathrooms here" she whispers to me as she hands me my change
"Oh thanks, but it's fine"
How embarrassing! I practically ran to the RR and raced back to the house. I started drinking the lemonade I bought so I could get the test done sooner, locket the car by hand and was relieved that Joe wasn't in the kitchen anymore so I left his key on the counter.
Before coming back into the room I wrapped the back tight against my chest and under my cardigan, and like I expected Nick was up watching some morning news show.
"Hey babe, where did you go?"
"Walgreens" I answer truthfully
"Oh, are you feeling well?"
"Yes, just went for some girly things" I smiled going to the in suite bathroom
Okay. I take my time reading the instructions and when I'm done I find myself sitting on the bathroom floor not knowing what to do if the test comes out positive. I went ahead and grabbed one of the test from the counter and held it in my hand praying for the best.
"Darling what are-"
Shit! I forgot to lock the door. I look up and see Nick at the door.
"Are you pregnant?" he mutters
"I don't know yet"
He meets me eye to eye on the floor. One more minute and I would know our fate.
"Here" I hand the stick to him "it's digital and should come up any second"
Nick grabs it and I close my eyes waiting for him to speak.
"Not pregnant" he speaks
"Oh my god" I sigh in relief "I was so worried"
"Why?" he asks
"I don't want to screw up what I have with you, you're too important to me. The fact that I could screw something up scares me to death."
"You thought this was going to screw things up?" he laughs "I would love our child"
"I know but we don't have time for that right now with your career starting up again" I smile "we'll make some Jonas babies later"
