~~~~~~ Kise was star-struck. Never did he think in his young career would he be down bad for someone whether they were a fangirl or not. And yet there he was staring at the one girl not surrounding him. She was wearing his merch with a love-dazed expression, but instead of joining the other hundreds of girls desperate for his attention, she walked away with a defeated look. He wanted to know about this girl and find out why she did not attempt to approach him. After a while, he got a name: Lucinda Sanchez. Lucinda was not some super popular girl, but people at least knew a general knowledge of her existence. Kise wanted an excuse to talk to her without his fangirls getting in the way, so he convinced Kasamatsu to invite her to the basketball team as the manager. Lucinda accepted happily but was soon overwhelmed by all the guys on the team. Kasamatsu introduced her and the members of the team welcomed her with kind and cheerful arms. The coach had Kise show Lucinda the way around to get her familiar with everything; which he was ecstatic about. Anytime he had a moment, Kise would talk with Lucinda to learn bits and pieces about her. He even offered to walk her home since their practice ran late.
After a while of talking, Kise could confidently say that he was at least a close friend of Lucinda. He invites her to eat lunch with him and his friends, they study together, they walk home together, and he even treats her when they hang out outside of practice or basketball. When Lucinda finally felt comfortable being herself around him, she would always gush about his work as a model and a basketball player; much to Kise's amusement. They were always around each other, but when the other fangirls came around, Lucinda would distance herself a bit out of respect for Kise. You see, Kise has shared some information about his last relationship in middle school and how he hated being used for clout. So she got into the habit of backing off when he was bombarded by fans. Though Kise understood and appreciated the jester, he did not want her to feel second-placed to his fans. So every now and then he would do small jester's of affection in front of his fans: like patting her head, pinching her cheek, holding her hand, or slinging an arm over her shoulder during conversations. Lucinda started to gain attention because of it and one fan posted a fun video of Kise chasing Lucinda around to hug her, but he was covered in sweat. The video went viral and Kise's fan club started to dedicate extra time to recording more cute videos of the pair. The pair got so popular that Kise's manager signed Lucinda to their label to do modeling duets. The sudden gain in popularity was overwhelming but exciting as well. She was getting paid to do fun stuff with her best friend who was also her celebrity crush. There wasn't much more she could ask for. However, the one person who she never wanted to catch wind of her sudden popularity decided to make his presence known.
Another successful win for the Kaijō basketball team, but it was pretty close. Kise asked the team to go ahead so he could have some alone time with Lucinda. The pair found a secluded area on the side of the arena and relived the game. "It was so cool when you got in the zone and made an absolute come back. The entire time I was like 'If we don't do something, Kise and the other third years won't be able to continue playing'. But then you got that fire and obliterated them. It was amazing", the girl exclaimed, still full of adrenalin from the match. "Well I'm glad I was able to pull out of my slump in time. It was thanks to your advice.". "Aww. Kise. You're too modest.". "No really. I-, " he paused briefly to grab the girl's hand, "A lot of good things have happened to me since we became friends last year. You are such an amazing person and I want nothing but to stand by your side.". Kise cupped Lucinda's cheek and was about to confess when loud yet slow clapping could be heard from the stairs next to them. "Damn, Ryota. Did not think you had the balls to go for a foreigner. You're always full of surprises." a familiar voice that struck anger in Kise, but fear in Lucinda. "Luci, baby. I didn't take you for a pretty boy lover. You've downgraded since our last encounter.". Soon enough, a voice was met with a face, and Lucinda's fears came to be. "Shogo. I thought you quit basketball after that major lost last we face." Kise started, mentally noting the sudden change of demeanor from Lucinda. "You should mind your business, Ryota. My business is with Luci, not you. I don't give a damn about you.". The male looked down at the trembling girl clinging to Kise for dear life with a smirk on his face. "Now then, Luci. Is that any way to behave around your former lover? Don't tell me you're still bent out of shape over that little incident. I said I was sorry. Don't you love me anymore, babygirl?". "Don't call me by that nickname. You think you deserve so much as a greeting after you cheated on me then had the audacity to put your hands on me!". "Aww. You're so cute when you're mad. You think because you got a little clout that makes you the baddest bitch here? Don't make me laugh.". "Shogo. If you know what's best for you, I suggest you leave her alone," Kise said as he pats Lucinda's head before moving her to the side. "And what is it that you think you'll do if I don't? Ryota!" Shogo ran in to punch Kise only for Kise to dodge and punch his lights out. "You know, for someone who talks mad shit and fights a lot, you go down too easily. But if I ever catch you around Lucinda again, I'll kill you.". With that, Kise gently took Lucinda's hand and walked away. When far enough, he pulled her in for a hug and let her cry into his chest until her heart's content. Once she was done, the taller male helped clean her face and kissed her forehead. "I guarantee that he won't bother you again after that embarrassing display. And if he does, I'll clock him again." Kise whispered to Lucinda, whose face was buried in his chest again. "You know you can't be getting into fights.". "I am aware. But for you, I don't care. No one is going to hurt the girl I love.". His words surprised Lucinda. "Now then. Let's go get ramen and tomorrow we can work out the details of our relationship," and with that, the pair set off to get food.
