Flying lessons

As first-year Gryffindors had Potions with the Slytherins, you, Harry and Ron had to deal with Draco malfoy too much, you all grew to hate him, though, fortunately potions is the only class you have with slytherins, so you didn't have to put up with Malfoy much. Or at least, you didn't until they spotted a notice pinned up in the Gryffindor common room that made them all groan. Flying lessons would be starting on Thursday — and Gryffindor and Slytherin would be learning together.

"Typical," said Harry darkly. "Just what I always wanted. To make a fool of myself on a broomstick in front of Malfoy."

"You don't know that you'll make a fool of yourself," said Ron reasonably. "Anyway, I know Malfoy's always going on about how good he is at Quidditch, but I bet that's all talk."

Even Seamus finnigan talked about how he would zoom around his broomstick, and Ron also included how he once almost hit a hang glider

It seemed like everyone except you and Harry had broomsticks

Ron had an argument with dean thomas (who shared the dorm with you, Seamus, Neville, Harry and Ron) about how ron couldn't see what was exciting about soccer, after all the game was played with one ball and no one could fly, you had to agree with ron aswell, ron was even prodding deans poster of his soccer team, trying to make the players move

Neville had also never been on a broomstick because his grandmother never let him have one, which was a good choice since Neville was prone to accidents with his feet on the ground so he'd probably break something in the air

Penny Haywood was excited to fly, she turned out to be a huge fan of quidditch and she said she might join in her fourth or fifth year, but she hasn't decided yet. She told you that if you needed help, she'd help you, you replied telling her that you might need help after all, since you were nervous

Hermione granger was also nervous about flying, she tried learning it from a book to no success, on Thursday she bored everyone with flying tips, though Neville kept listening so he wouldn't make a mistake while on the broom, hermiones lecture was interrupted by the mail and everyone was pleased
