"She looked up and when she saw the pastor she immediately remembered that it was her part to say 'I do'.
She looked at her parents who were seated in the front row amongst the congregation, they had a nervous look on their faces, probably waiting to hear her answer, then she turned to look at Damien who looked like he was holding his breath probably also waiting for her answer.
There was also an emotion in his eyes which looked like that of fear but joan couldn't decipher it, probably fear of rejection from her. And yes Joan finally had the courage to look at him without freaking out.
Then she just decided to end whatever torture he might be going through now, because he was still waiting for her answer and also to ease the mind of the congregation who were anxiously waiting for her answer and to also clear up the tension which was already building in the air.
"I do" Joan finally said and it was as if all the tension in the air died down immediately she said those two words.
She turned to look at the congregation and they all had smiles on their faces, they probably must have thought that she would say 'no' because she had wasted so much time before she said i do.
So these people thought that i would say no and then disgrace my family, well that won't work, I'm way smarter than that.
Joan took the ring from the pastor and then she reached out to hold Damien's hand which was surprisingly very soft and she had thought that all men's hands were hard and strong.
Joan carefully slipped the ring onto his hand and then let go of it quickly because she was already getting tingles in her body. All this while joan didn't bother to look up at Damien, she just did what she was supposed to do and then let the pastor proceed to speak.
"Does anyone here object to the union of these two people, if so say now or forever hold your peace" The pastor said and when no one objected to anything, he then turned to face Joan and Damien and this was when Joan's heart started beating loudly because she knew what the pastor would say next.
"I now proclaim you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride" The pastor said and then Damien slowly moved forward towards Joan who just stayed rooted on the spot.
