chapter 16

"what? Emilia. Let me see" Jasmine said but I didn't let the photo go, I handed it back to Issac. Our hands touched and I felt a slight shock but turned away before anyone could say a thing and ran for the forest not even caring as they yelled after me to stop.

I ended up sitting under a huge oak tree and crying my eyes out wishing that I was normal or at least a wolf shift. None of this would of happened if I was something normal. After the sun had set I finally went back to my dorm. I felt so alone now, I couldn't even go to their funeral because that would get me to far behind in class.

I opened my door and heard low whispering. I walked in, my eyes all red from crying and my pants all dirty from sitting in the dirt. "Where the hell have you been! We've been worried sick!" Star and Jasmine said at the same time sounding just like my mom when I would go on long walks in the woods and not make it back till after dark.

Issac shot up and ran over to me checking and making sure I was okay, which made me feel better a little. It was honestly kinda cute. And then I finally got to see his face better, he had such handsome eyes they where such a nice shade of blue like the ocean. He even smelled amazing, like sea salt and lavender.

"Where were you" he asked still tilting my head to see if my neck was okay. "I ran deep in the forest, sat under an oak tree and cried my eyes out" I said sniffling. "I'm so sorry" he said and then hugged me tightly to his chest, his heart beat was racing but it sounded so soothing. His smell made me want to sleep. Then I felt it again, the electric shock from earlier "ahhh, mate" my fox said sighing.

"Mate..." I whispered and he held me tighter "mate" he said out loud and I heard something hit the floor hard. Making me and him both turn to see, Jasmine on the floor with star looking at us in shock. "You two, are mates?" Jasmine asked and I looked back at Issac. "Yes" he said before I could say a thing "and no I'm not going to try and be over protective. You can infact defend this pack with me. But when I find the monsters who did that to your family, we both will slaughter them" his words rang in my heart but I couldn't say anything.

I was so tired from everything. Classes where getting harder especially PT. I was getting pushed to my limit and even my fox was tired she had already went to sleep even before I came back. I was getting no where on my own shift, I still had no idea why I was picked.

And there were no power holding shifts in this school. I had no one to teach me how to use my powers and I still didn't yet know all of them! I felt myself drifting off to sleep. Wrapped up in the arms of my newly found mate.

When I woke up, I was in my bed wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt and underwear. No bra, no pants, just a t shirt and underwear. I sat up in my bed and looked around, I opened my night stand and grabbed all the letters and re-reading them all.

"These notes don't help me at all" I said frustrated as hell, I flung my hands up over my head and heard the papers make a funny sound. I looked up and brought my hands back down looking at the papers.

One of the papers had fallen open but it was different. I looked at it carefully. Someone taped this bit up along time ago, so long that the tape had yellowed with the paper making it impossible to know this was even there. It was a map, but not just any map but a map of the school, and all it's secret passages. "I knew this place had secret passages" I thought to myself as I look it over.

"Maybe this will lead us to something that will help?" My fox asked and I shrugged "only one way to find out. I might even bring the others just in case"

I changed into some black jeans and a black shirt. I wanted to blend into the darkness that must be in those passageways. I grabbed my phone it was almost 4 in the morning the sun wasn't even up yet. "I'll text the others to meet us at one of the hidden doors and wait a few minutes and if they show they show and if not we are all alone on this" i said as I sent a quick text to all my friends telling them what hall to meet me in.

I slipped a school hoodie on over my stuff and tossed my hood on my head and left my room quietly. I left the dorm and went to the dining hall, the easiest secret passage was located behind an old painting. As I sat in front of the old looking painting of the school I heard feet walking my way, I glanced down the hall and saw a hooded figure walking my way with their hands in their pockets.

When they got closer I could tell that they were Issac he looked at me and smiled "hey so what are we doing this late at night?" He asked and I smiled I turned around and removed the painting from the wall to show that the wallpaper was a complete different color. "We my mate, are about to find out plenty about this school and my shift".
