To say Athena White was a lush would be an understatement, but atleast she could hold her liquor well.

Well, that was slightly true. After her twelfth shot of straight tequila, she was starting to look slightly drunk.

Matteo was surprised she was still standing at this point. She was half the side and weight as some people he knew, and she was holding her liquor better than all of them.

But she was definitely starting to get tipsy. Matteo had to stop her from climbing the bar counter four times now. Timothy had said she wanted to make herself something.

Timothy Andrew's had been a blessing tonight. He had been a translator for Matteo in the world of ASL.

He even mentioned teaching Matteo a thing or two.

But when Athena had became tipsy, her hands started making no since to even Timothy. And when Timothy called over Ford, the one (besides Athena of course) that was the most fluent in Sign Language. And even him couldn't stop laughing as Athena kept messing up words. Or coming up with new ones.

Matteo was ready to go home. His skin was prickly and unclean, he had to stop himself five different times from trying to fix the number of napkins that were at the bar.

It was uneven. And it was really, truly, starting to kill him.

He had counted them silently in his head over and over again. And there was something in him, that just wanted to roll up the one uneven bit and throw it so far into a trash can that no one would ever see it again.

It was killing him.

He could simply ask the bartenders for another napkin. But then he would have to admit to counting fucking napkins six times.

He kept his hands in his lap as he tried not to pick at his skin.

He was ready to go home. He wanted in the safety if his house. And in the warm sheets if his bed.

But a business man sat in front of him, discussing the plan for their agreement. Kenji from the Japanese mafia sat there explaining how his team was willing to help with Seven Blades cause.

And all Matteo could think about, was how many fucking napkins there were.

"...we will be able to discuss more details on a later date, yes?" Kenji finally concluded.

Matteo snapped out of his... whatever that was... and stood to his feet. "Yes that will be wonderful. Thank you for talking to me tonight." Matteo held out his hand for the man to shake.

"Yes, thank you. Kenzo sends his hellos." Kenji said before walking back to the crowded room.

Matteo had taken in a pound himself to make the bar a safe place for her.

And she seemed to be fine, besides her head down counter besides him. She looked like a  drunken mess.

An adorable mess.

Stop that.

"Let's go back home, Athena." She groaned before pushing her head deeper into the counter.

"Yes I know." He smiled as he picked up her arm and dropped it over his shoulders. Before hooking his arm under her knee and lifting her up off the chair.

"Take care of my girl, you hear," Timothy hollered from behind them.

My girl my ass.

Matteo rolled his eyes as he hauled Athena closer to his body. Her cold nose hitting the side of his neck. He tried his hardest not to shiver at the contact. He tried not to think of her scent that seemed to burn its way into his memory.

Her hands shook as she tried to communicate with him. She repeated the same few movements over and over again. He had learned that sign from Timothy; Timothy had told him it meant she was saying she was sorry. What she was sorry for, he had not the slightest clue.

Drinking to much? Pretending like she liked kissing him when she didn't? But that would be childish of him.

Yes, he didn't care if she didn't like him. He didn't want to like her. No, no he did not.

And he definitely didn't like the way her breath was hitting his neck.

It was not giving him a hard on.

He sighed as her breathing evened out as he got to the car.

"Tutto bene, capo?" The driver spoke as Matteo placed Athena's sleeping body in the car.

"Bene, portami a casa Orlando" He sighed as Athena leaned againist him; like she never wanted him to leave. And he couldn't find it in him to pull away.
