.She stared at the cups infront of her. She knew better, surely she did. She knew that the cups were poisoned. She just didn't know which one. It was to much of a risk.
Once upon a time, Athena was so cold hearted that she would not drink the drinks. Letting Ford died.
That's the kind of person she was. Well atleast that was who she was when she was given three life sentences.
But now? Now she was a whole different person.
Now, now Athena was the person who enjoyed laughing at Daniel as he slipped on the tile floors. Or someone who wanted to learn how to cook the best grilled cheese Timothy could master in the kitchen.
Andrew was the kind of man that made her love dad jokes. General learned how to play piano, just so Athena would have someone to play with.
So she had to keep her family safe.
Some part of her wanted to kick herself in the butt for calling them her family. When her real family was actually alive.
But her real family was the five members of her team.
Those men where her family. And she would do anything to keep them together.
She placed her hands on the table, but she paused.
Castiel clicked the gun back, loading the bullet into the chamber. The gun was pointed at Ford's other knee.
Ford was already on the risk of losing the ability to walk with his one knee. Athena wouldn't let him loose his other.
"Drink up, tesoro."
Darling, he called her darling. Athena wanted to throw up.
She reached for the cup on the left. Her hand touched the cold metal. She knew that she had enough years of testing herself, that she could make it with the drug.
She just didn't know which one it was.
She knew from her years of killing, that if they drank the poison and died. Then you kill the other man. But if he drinks the normal, you shoot then both.
Athena needed a way to make sure that either way Ford was not harmed.
So she grabbed both the cups, a slammed them back. One at a time. Judt enough in-between that she could caught her breath.
Castiel smiled, "That wasn't the smartest decision, tesoro."
That's when she felt it.
Now normally when Athena was dosed. She could feel it, but it only felt like a salty taste. And her throat would burn slightly.
But this, this was pain. Her head pounded. Her throat felt like it was squeezing up. Like someone had wrapped their hand around her neck, cutting off the oxygen that wanted to go in.
She gasped, but that seemed to only cause more pain.
"You see"
No she couldn't see her vision was blacking out. All she could see was bits and pieces. She could make out Castiel putting something on the table.
She could hear Ford saying something.
But all she could think about:
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
I can't breathe.
