The little girl giggled as she snuck down the stairs to see her parents. She was supposed to be asleep, but she couldn't seem to close her eyes.

She smiled when she saw her parents sitting at the dining room table. They would sit and drink coffee every morning and tea in the afternoon.

Her father seemed to always work late, or be gone for weeks to months at a time. But they lived comfortably in a larger house. Her father was a police officer or something like that. He caught the bad guys and put them in jail.

Her mother was a lawyer, who fought for justice in broken family homes. She fought to keep children safe even if it was keeping them from their families.

The little girl loved her family and wished to be like them one day. To be the good guy in the story.

"I think the little mouse, has crawled out of her hole." She could hear her father whisper. She didn't know if she truly liked the name. Being a mouse could be rude if you took it that way. But the little mouse she saw in the garden was adorable so she liked the idea of it. She did love cheese, so maybe it was a win-win.

"Little mouse?" Her mother sang.

"Mama!" The little girl sprang onto the woman with her arms spread wide. Mother gave the best of hugs.

"Hi little mouse," the woman laughed as she wrapped her arms around the small child.

"You can't be that loud, little mouse. There might be people asleep next door." Her father laughed, his blue eyes shining with delight at his daughter.

"How was work today, Papa?" the little girl asked as she cuddled into her mother's arms.

"Same as always little mouse. Makes me scared to have you out in the world, with all these bad people out there." He rubbed his temples, he didn't want to think about his daughter in this evil-infested world.

She was his angel, and he didn't want the world to harm her.

"It's okay, Papa. I'll be so careful, i won't even step on a bug." Her bright smile gave the man a happy feeling. She was a little light in the darkness it seemed.

"How about we go play the piano, little mouse?" her mother spoke quietly.

"Can we play together, Papa?"

"Of course, let me go get my guitar."

The girl squeaked and ran to the grand piano that sat in the middle of the room.

"She'll be alright, Lucas." The woman smiled.

"I know, Caroline. But the world is a scary place, my love." He kissed his wife on the head before going to join his daughter.

The family sat around the larger piano, playing and singing together. The man played his guitar, while the girls sang and played on the piano.

This made the world good, the happiness that was seen in this family's eyes. As the last note on the piano was hit, a crash came from somewhere in the house.

"Lucas?" The woman gasped, the small girl started to move to the noise.

"Athena, get back here. Stay with your mother." The small child backed up to her mother's arms. Lucas walked to the noise, only to find a vase that landed on the ground.

He sighed before walking back to his family. "It seems that some didn't put the vase far enough from the edge." He sends a friendly glare at his little girl.
