Chapter 11: Stand by Her

Philip could not stand the thought that he and Heather have officially engaged as that woman accepted his proposal, even the ambience of his proposal was not romantic like in the romance movie he always watched. And now, he could not wait to tell his mother that Heather and him going to tie the knot as soon as possible so they could create their happiness. Until he remembered something, about the woman his mother always mentioned whenever they were on the phone.

'Thank God, everything went well despite a few unpleasant circumstances that hit the journey of my love towards Heather Miller. Firstly, I felt so devastated for unable to be a father as Heather had a miscarriage but I did not blame her entirely. For me, I honestly felt like a loser for unable to protect my woman and save my child – but God knows best and I wish my luck run with me to start a family with her, the woman that has stolen my heart with her spectacular drawings. Thinking about my parents, I did remember something. Could Heather be the one that my mother wanted to be her daughter-in-law as what I can recall now that she used to mention that the woman, she wants me to marry just live cross the road from our house. And I need her clarification on that thing as well as both of our parent's permission in order to be united legally.'

Even Heather still recovering from her depression, the arrival of Philip had healed a little bit of her broken soul. On that night, Philip washed her hair gently as that man insisted to clean her hair after both of them were engaged in a blink second. Heather could not hide her contentment as Malcolm never bother to cheer her when she was down, not to mention help her with the house chores despite living together for almost a decade.

On that night, both of them shared their stories that had never been told as Philip demanded that he want no secret between both of them. In her bedroom, that prosecutor lay beside Heather and he started to tell her more about his life that she never knew. 

"Well, how to start. I had my law degree in London School of Economic when I was twenty-one. Two years later, I pursued my master in Washington with administration law and graduated at the age of twenty-six. Landed a job as state attorney in Florida until I had been promoted as Assistant General Attorney in New York and I cannot wait to see what the future brings me. How about you, Heather?"

"First of all, I need to praise you for having a strong education background. While me, I am so passionate with arts since a tender age. My father enrolled me into multiples art classes in Washington before I decided to pursue my study in the same field at Hunter College in New York where I major in studio art but my focus mostly on painting and drawing. There I met my ex-fiancé Malcolm as he also a student, majoring in photography. After I graduated, I was struggling to find a job thus decided to be a freelance artist in Washington art gallery. Both Malcolm and I decided to get married soon after he landed a job as photo journalist at the U.S senate – but our relationship has turned upside down afterwards. Until I broke the engagement and I got a job as a director for art gallery in New York. Nothing much about me, still insecure that I get to sleep with one of the genius men in front of me."

"No need to be so insecure with yourself, my dear. I am just myself, got a scholarship to pursue my degree overseas but nothing special about it. One more thing, I am not perfect as I do have my own flaws that you will know once we get married, but I just want to make sure you are happy to be with me." He said, reassuring Heather that felt Philip and her did not belong together due to his excellent academic level as well as a good career as an attorney.

She nodded understandingly. The last time when she was with Malcolm, everything seems smooth at first not until he kept underestimating her for being a freelance artist while he got a job in the U.S senate as a photographer thus sparking tension between both of them. The arrival of Bianca has made everything becomes worst as that lawyer always ruined her relationship with Malcolm thus, she decided to end their romance from suffering more; thanks to Bianca who always got Malcolm's attention whenever she needed it.
