Chapter 20 - Inseparable

Shayne is the first to break the silence as he loosens his hold on me a little.

"You are amazing my sweet P", whispering in my ear.

He has a nickname for me now?  Hmmm I like it

A huge grin spreads across his gorgeous face.

"Thanks Shay", feeling a litte shy I dip my head slightly, smiling as I look up at him through my lashes.

"I really wanted to see you", he says brushing the side of my face with his hand as he tucks a few strands of hair behind my ear.

Oh my god...breathe.   

I really need to try and hold it together right now, because I really just want to grab him and kiss him.  But I know I wont...I can't, I'm too scared.

"Did Rachel make it?", I ask weakly trying to change the subject a little, so I can gain some control of myself.

Shanye nods casually, "Yeah I caught a ride with her".

"I'm so glad you're here Shay",  I feel my eyes sting with tears again.

"I gave it everything I had today and it's just taken a little out of me, so I guess I'm feeling a little emotional."  

"Sorry", I continue to mumble, feeling embarrassed I look at the floor.

"Come here babe" as he pulls me close again.

Oh, I love the feeling of being so close to him...he smells amazing.

"I'm ok Shay, please don't worry these are happy tears.", trying to reassure him as I pull away a little so I can look at him.

"I know babe, but I much prefer you smiling" as he pulls me in close again

This time I snuggle in and squeeze him back as I drink in his wonderful scent and enjoy the moment while he is standing there holding me.

I spoke to Rachel during the week and got all the details for the auditions.  I think I'll be able to surprise Pia because she has no idea that I'm coming to watch her sing as she thinks I'm working today. I felt bad when I originally told her, I sensed disappointment when she told me she was going on her own.  But I can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees me, I can't wait to see her.

I caught a lift with Rachel as she has a tendancy to be late, so I made her shut the shop early to make sure we got there in plenty of time. I don't think Pia realises her talent or the affect she has on people when she sings.  I looked around the auditorium after she finished her audition song and not only did she get a standing ovation from the audience but the judges too.  There were very few dry eyes in the house as Rachel and I looked at each other wiping our faces, it was truly amazing.  I think it's a sign that she has a very good chance and I'm so excited for her.

Pia disappeared pretty quickly after her performance, but I dashed off quickly after her and managed to find her hiding on one of the secluded balconies out the back.   At first I don't think she heard me enter the balcony behind her.  I could hear her crying softly as I got closer and it just made me want to comfort her. We stood out there for about an hour talking, I needed to make sure she was ok.  I wasn't going to let her go and if anything, I think it has brought us closer.  I realised that today was a very big step for Pia, I'm so proud of her.

Rachel has decided to hang around for ahile afterwards because she wants to see more of the auditions.  I don't want to leave Pia so I offer to driver her car, so she can relax on the drive back home.  I'm a little relieved that she accepts my offer because she dozed off for most of the trip home.  I could tell that she was exhausted from all the excitement but she insisted she wanted to meet up with her friends.

Pia woke up, just as I pulled her car into the driveway outside her house. I quickly race around to open the passenger door to help her out of the car and get her inside.  She invites me up for coffee as she's determined to stay awake because we are supposed to be meeting everyone at theclub in a few hours.  We decide to chillout in the lounge with our coffee, so we can continue to talk.  I sit down at one end, casually placing my arm around the back of the couch but Pia surprises me by sitting very close as she snuggles into me.  So I seize the moment and slide my arm off the couch, wrapping it around her waist as I pull her in closer.

I'm finding it very hard to control myself as I really want to kiss her.  After seeing her so emotional on the balcony, I took advantage of the moment to let her know I genuinely care for her. It also made me realise I've become quite attached to her, I just want to hold her at every opportunity I get.  And I'm finding it harder to keep my hands to myself as I keep finding excuses to touch her and hold her but she doesn't seem to mind.  I'm sure she knows now just how much I like her but after what she's been through, I dont want to rush it.  I'm trying to take things slowly but with the way she makes me feel it's getting harder to hold back.  We have become quite comfortable with each other in such a short time.  No one has said anything but I don't think it's gone unnoticed.

I think we can read each other pretty well already because I know she really likes my nickname 'sweet P'.  I saw the look in her eyes when I said it to her the first time and I pretty sure she knows I love it, when she calls me Shay.  I've noticed she's started calling me Shay all the time now and I love hearing it.

I'm savouring every second I have alone with her here in my arms whilst we are talking.  I wish we didn't have to meet up with the others as I'd rather have her all to myself and just stay here for the rest of the night.  Pia suggested we leave a bit later than planned as she admitted that she wanted to spend some more time alone with me which was really nice.

Neither of us wants to move and we will have to leave shortly to meet up with the others at the club.  Time has passed far too quickly as we reluctantly gather our things and make our way out to catch a taxi to the club.   On arrival I grab Pia's hand as I help her out of the taxi, I link her fingers with mine...I'm not letting her go tonight.  

I begin to lead her towards the club but I stop and turn to look at her as I can sense she's staring at me.  Our eyes meet and she flashes me that amazing smile sending a shiver right through me.

Wow, Pia really has no idea how beautiful she is.

I can't stop staring at him, he is so gorgeous and I can't believe this is really happening I like him so much.  Shayne stops just inside the entrance of the club.  He lets go of my hand for a moment as he slides his hand around my waist and leans in.

"Hey my sweet P, have I told you how amazing you are?" and places a gentle kiss on my temple that sends a shiver right through me.

Smiling, I instantly lean into him as I feel the heat in my cheeks and I can't help but let out a nervous giggle.

I suddenly blurt out, "I think you're pretty amazing too Shay". 

Oh my god, I can't believe I just said that out loud!

Reading the look on my face, "yes babe, you just said that out loud", grinning he pulls me in tighter.

I have a tendancy be a bit shy sometimes however it seems Shay is bringing out a different side to me and I like it, although I'm finding it a little scary because I'm even surprising myself at times.  I'm starting to feel like a little bit of the old me is slowly coming back.  And I guess because I've shut myself away for so long I've not needed or wanted anyone else in my life.  But since meeting Shay my perspective on everything has changed and I don't think it will be the same again.  

Something tells me that tonight Shay isnt going to leave my side and I'm totally okay with that.  Linking his fingers through mine, we continue to make our way through the entrance as we head into the club to meet up with our friends.  

At this moment I realise Shay and I are quickly becoming... Inseparable.
