Chapter 30 ~ This is it

I have an hour to get myself ready before I head over to the store to see Rachel.  Looking in the mirror I can see that I look a little pale and gaunt, so I make the effort to put on some makeup and do my hair.  I have to admit I feel much better as the last few days sulking around the place in my pyjamas hasn't helped.

As I begin to gather the rest of my things I hear my phone beep.

My breath catches in my throat what if it's him

Just as I head out the door I grab my phone and read the text message...It's Shayne

[Hi Babe, Would it be ok if I call you tonight? I understand if you're not ready but I really miss you and I'm sorry. I really want to talk to you. Love Shay xx]

Looking at the screen, I don't realise I'm holding my breath until I let out a huge sigh as I immediately type a reply.

[Hi Shay, I would like really like that and I'm sorry too. I will be home at 7pm. I miss you too. P xx]

Quickly blinking away a few stray tears I tap send as I try to pull myself together.  I know it can only get better from here but 7pm is so far away and I just can't help but feel a mix of emotions as I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

Suddenly my cell phone starts to ring...

I look at the screen but I don't recognise the number, I'm almost hesitant to answer it but then I realise it could be the production company calling about my audition.

I quickly swipe the screen and answer the call.  "Hello this is Pia"

"Hi Pia this is Jerry from Funhouse Productions, Congratulations you have been selected to join us on tour"

"Wow, thank you so much", I can hardly breathe

"Rachel has been advised of our decision so I won't keep you as I'm sure you will be hearing from her shortly, but I look forward to seeing you next week".

"Thank you again Jerry"

"You're most welcome, the pleasure is all mine, I really look forward to working with you and I'll talk to you soon"

"Bye" I hang up.

Wowsers!  I immediately want to call Shay but then I remember he's calling me tonight.  I decide I will wait and tell him the news tonight because I want to break it to him gently as I don't know how he wil take it after everything thats happened.  I'm not even sure of all the details just yet, not until I get the chance to talk to Rachel and find out how long we are going to be gone.

Isn't it always the way, just when I get one thing sorted, another challenge is around the corner...

A moment later my phone rings again and I immediately know it's Rachel because I have a recording of her singing as my ringtone.  As soon as I pick up the call all I can hear is a loud scream!

I start to laugh as I was only talking to her a few hours ago.  Rachel begins to fill me in on all the details that she has confirmed with Jerry for the tour.  We start rehersals next week, so we both agree that we need to advertise an opening for another staff member, to fill in whilst we are gone

We only have the next two weeks to tidy up any loose ends as the next month is going to be busy with rehersals and then we are off on tour for a month.

I can't believe this is all happening so fast, it's exciting and scary all at the same time.

I tell Rach, "I'm definitely going to need all the coaching and tips you can give me now."
