Chris had text me and told me he would pick me up at noon. We were going to get some lunch at a place near historical Boston and then go walking. It was now 12:45 and no Chris. I made sure I sent him the right address and I had text him to no answer. I thought he had changed his mind and didn't have to heart to tell me. I was sitting on my couch with Perdy's head in my lap.
"I knew it was too good to be true." I said and she huffed as there was a knock on my door. Perdy started barking excited and I knew she never acted like that as she ran to the door. I opened the door holding her collar to hold her back. When I opened the door I saw Chris standing there grinning at me and I just looked at him and then it hit me.
"This is payback isn't it?" I asked and he nodded and I shook my head and I punched his in the chest.
"Low Evans." I said and he laughed. I then noticed he had Dodger.
"Are we taking the dogs?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I was actually hoping I could leave Dodger here with Perdy he seems to be sad whenever she isn't around." Chris said and I nodded.
"Sure, let him loose." I said and Chris took him off the leash and they ran into the apartment and I smiled.
"Behave Perdy." I said and she barked.
"You too Dodger." Chris said and he ignored Chris and I laughed.
"Dodger." I said and he barked. Chris looked at me stunned as I shut the door.
"How did you do that?" Chris asked and I shrugged.
"I guess it's the authority in my voice." I said and Chris smiled and took my hand as we walked out to his car. Once I was in he got in and we drove to the restaurant and walked in and I noticed it was empty.
"Are they even open?" I asked and Chris smiled.
"I may have rented out the restaurant." Chris said and I shook my head.
"Why?" I asked and Chris sighed.
"I just wanted to be able to eat lunch with you and not have any interruptions." Chris said and I gave him a small smile.
"Are you interrupted a lot?" I asked and Chris sighed.
"It can happen." Chris said and I smiled as the owner came out and seated us.
"Chris, it's so good to see you again." He said and shook his hand.
"Again?" I asked and he sighed.
"My family comes here all the time." Chris said and I nodded.
"And you don't empty it out for them?" I asked and Chris hid his face with the menu but I saw a smile on his face. I looked at the menu and we ordered what we wanted and Chris grabbed my hand that was on the table.
"Sorry for being late today." Chris said and I sighed.
"No, I deserved it. I did it to you." I said and he shook his head.
"Not on purpose." Chris said and I shrugged.
"You are fine. Let's just forget it." I said and Chris sighed.
"Start over?" Chris asked and I nodded.
"Start over." I said and he pulled my hand to his lips and kissed my knuckles.
"So what do I have to expect from historical Boston?" I asked and chuckled.
"Cobble stone streets through the Beacon Hill neighborhood but just a lot of old buildings everywhere else." Chris said and I laughed.
