Hope

Tonight, the stars are bright,

I hear people laughing down the streets,

And music is dancing for me.

I wonder if ghosts are around this place,

I'm wearing the face of my ancestors,

Are they guiding, or here to stop me?

The world is our senior,

With mountains older than bones,

And seas full of relics.

I dream of the past,

When my grandparents' garden,

Was a land full of wonders.

When I believed in magic,

And I prayed God to fix my life,

In a church, under a shooting star.

I dream of the future,

Full of people and struggles,

Of hardships and failures.

Of joy, and hope, and smiles,

Of melancholy, and excitement,

And full of love.

The moon is watching,

The sun is still shining,

And the grass keeps growing.

Dogs will continue to bark,

The stars will keep glowing,

And the streets will break.

I will watch cows in their pasture,

Everything will be alright,

And tears will come rushing.

I will keep singing,

Keep hoping, and hoping,

Even when my heart is bleeding.

I will keep on loving,

Loving love itself,

Even if it doesn't love me back.

I will keep on living,

Until I have done everything,

Until I have rebuilt the world.

I will be elderly, and watching the sunset,

And for one last time,

People will be laughing down the streets.

And after thousands of lives,

Thousands of breaths,

A dawning realization will fall upon my shoulders.

I don't know what it will be,

My final breath will be a laugh,

But right now,

The world is weird and confusing,

And often cruel and random,

But the chaos makes it oh so beautiful.

We are made of the sea,

Of stars, smiles, and songs,

And one day, we will find ourselves.
