Follow me for more!"Oh my gosh." I breathed out, staring at the big, red 'B' on my History test. This has to be some kind of mistake, I studied really hard for this test. My dad's gonna be so angry and I won't even have an explanation. I've only gotten a 'B' one other time in my life and it was in fifth grade, on a maths test. My father grounded me for two months and made me do a revision maths test every week. What is he gonna do this time?
I sighed, grabbing my backpack and walking out of the class. I walked up to my locker and placed my backpack inside it, getting ready to go to lunch.
"Iris!" Holly yelled, standing at the end of the hallway with her hands on her hips. I raised my eyebrows, as everyone's eyes were on me and her. She made her way over to me, her face red She looked furious but.. Why? She reached me and her glare made me gulp in fear "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING, IRIS?"
I furrowed my eyebrows "What are you talking about, Holly?"
I felt everyone's stare on the two of us. "You told Jason that I took you to the party and made fun of you!" She yelled, throwing her hands in the air. I pushed my locker closed and folded my arms across my chest.
"That's true. You did do that, Holly, so what's the problem?"
She groaned "The problem is now Jason won't even talk to me!"
I rolled my eyes "He didn't wanna talk to you before this either."
I walked past her and she scoffed, "Oh please you're such a liar"
I sighed, turning back to face her "Why would I lie, Holly?"
She folded her arms across her chest, "Because you like Jason."
She laughed "And you know what's funny?" She smirked, stepping closer to me "Is that you actually think he would like you back."
I raised my eyebrow "What's your point, Holly?"
She shrugged, a smug look on her face. "Why would he want you, Iris? I mean, you're just.. You -an average little geek, that's too afraid to even step foot out of the house without asking her dad. Jason needs someone who isn't such a wimp like you, he needs someone like ME. Someone who can show him a good time and someone who he'd be proud to say is his."
I stared at her, my eyes brimming with tears as people around us started giggling and snickering. I turned around and ran out of the school doors, my vision getting blurry with tears. I began running through the parking lot.
"Ay! Iris!"
I didn't know who it was but I didn't stop either, I just kept running out of the school and down the street. Soon I felt two arms wrap around me and pull me to a stop. I was about to scream but his voice stopped me.
"Relax, relax it's just me."
I sniffled and he turned me around. He frowned, cupping my cheeks. "Princess, what happened? Why are you crying?"
I shook my head, "I-i..... I got a B." I lied, tears running down my cheeks. He chuckled, pulling me into his chest.
"Oh princess." He kissed my forehead. "I thought something terrible happened.
I bit my lip, burying my head in his neck "I know, I'm sorry."
He sighed and ran his hand through my hair "It's okay to get a B, sweetheart. Its not the end of the world." I opened my mouth to speak but Gaby's voice cut me off.
"Iris!" She came running up to me "Are you okay? I heard what happened. I'm so sorry."
Jason chuckled, "Jeez, it's just a B."
She furrowed her eyebrows at him, "What are you talking about?" My eyes widened when I realized Gaby was gonna tell him the truth. "Holly just yelled at Iris in front of the entire school." Jason blinked at her before his jaw clenched and he looked at me.
"She did what?"
I gulped, shifting on my feet "She...um... She was mad about me telling you what happened."
Gaby rolled her eyes, "I am gonna kick her ass, I swear. How could she do that to her own sister? All because of some boy.. No offense." She said, looking at Jason. He didn't respond to her, he just looked at me, licking his lips.
"You lied to me?" His eyes showed a hint of hurt. I sighed, fiddling with my fingers.
"No I g-got a B but that's n-not why I was c-crying, I-i just didn't want you to b-be angry, Jason." I bit my lip, my eyes tearing up as I looked at him. "I'm sorry for lying."
He sighed, wrapping his arms around me. "It's okay. Don't worry about it, princess."
I nodded, wrapping my arms around his torso. Gaby stared at the two of us, a small smile on her lips before she cleared her throat.
"Um.. So, what are you gonna do now?" She asked, looking at me. I sighed, pulling away from Jason and biting my lip.
"All I know is that I'm done doing whatever Holly asks me to do, what she said hurt and I don't count on her saying sorry anytime soon, so from now on, I only have one sister."
Gaby licked her lips and nodded her head. "I'm happy you're finally standing up for yourself, Iris, especially against Holly." I nodded, looking down at my fingers. "I'm gonna go back inside. See you at home, Iris." She looked at Jason, "and bye Jason."
He nodded and she walked back towards the school. "What did she say?"
I looked up at him, "Huh?"
He licked his lips, looking me right into my eyes. "What did Holly say to you that hurt?"
My lips parted slightly and I contemplated on whether I should tell him the truth. I sighed and told him everything, from when she yelled my name down the hallway up to when she said he needed someone like her. He listened with a blank expression until I was done then he licked his lips before asking "Do you like me, Iris?"
I stared at him, blinking repeatedly before gulping "Um... Jason...."
I sighed, running my hands through my hair and taking a step back from him. He shoved his hands in his pockets, his eyebrows raised as he waited for me to answer. I licked my lips and decided to just admit it, so I nodded my head and whispered:
"Yes, Jason.. I like you."
