After the award was over, I said goodbye to Ron and was ready to get home. I would have spent that time alone, pondering my feelings, but Charlie called me and invited me to the after-party.
If today was the day I was breaking down and reassembling myself, why not? Driver drove me home where I changed my image and went to the after-party where I was supposed to meet Charlie and some other girls.
In the car I stared thoughtfully out the window, then took my phone out of my purse and googled "Olivia Rodrigo's boyfriend"
And I wasn't wrong. It showed me several paparazzi photos of Olivia with that blond guy. He was an actor as I found out. Nice. The last paparazzi picture of them was taken two weeks ago, which meant they were still together.
Wow, while I was out there suffering for her, she'd already been in a happy relationship for three months.
I turned my phone off in annoyance. So there you go. Some people are heartbroken and others are having a good time with a cute blond boy. That's how I arrived at the after-party, all fucking emotional I walked into the noisy room where A list celebrities were already in full swing to celebrate with expensive booze.
I walked over to the bar and ordered myself a cocktail. I stood a little to the side, looking at the others. Suddenly a voice came over
"Here comes tonight's triumphant girl."
And Olivia walks in with her blond boy on her arm. Of course, they're so in love.
Olivia says hello to the others, chatting away. Until she notices me.Well, I guess, it's the beginning of a very long night... or I would choose safe option and go home early.
It was probably the tequila shot in my system because I saluted Olivia with my cocktail glass and noticed her taking her blond boy by the hand afterwards.
They made their way to the back of the hall while I was still sipping a cocktail at the bar. I finished it and stopped. I have to be sober tonight. Or should I?I ordered a non-alcoholic mojito from the bartender and watched as a blond boy heads toward me.
Oh, no, not me. The bartender. I can't believe Olivia was afraid to get her own cocktails. Or is he some kind of gentleman?
Everyone started dancing and I lost sight of Olivia for a while. And when I found her, she was alone. What happened to the blond boy?
To that time I already had few shots and forgot about my intention to stay sober for the night. I made my way through the crowd and came up behind Olivia.
"Having fun?"
She flinches and turns to me with shock written all over her face but tries to be held together.
"Hello. Yes, you?"
A small talk, huh. Funny. Took us three months to go from sharing out darkest secrets to basic sentences you say to strangers the first time you meet them.
"The music is shit in my opinion. Are they playing the first playlist they found?"
I see smal small lips touching her lips, but the qickly hides it with serious face.
"Yeah... I don't know who's DJ here but clearly they're a wrong choice..."
We fall into awkward silence for a few seconds but then I saw the blond boy coming back.
"Okay, I'll go, have a fun night" I said and disappeared into the crowd not looking anyone in the eye, because mine are full with tears and I don't even know why.
I looked at Olivia and blonde boy. He talked exitedly about something, when she just listened, with a half smile playing on her lips.
She was happy. Wasn't this what I wanted? Not,it wasn't because I wanted her to be happy with me. But that's really impossible now. So... maybe I should just take what I have and look truth in the eye. The through of her being happy with blonde boy made me extremely sad, but its not like I wanted to punch him in the face.
