"I think it's awfully boring, but my parents love it," Mary said, smiling.

"How long will you be there? A week?"

"Six days now. I can't wait to get back, I miss you terribly."

"And I miss you," I said, trying to make it sound convincing.

Because I wasn't. I didn't miss her but it wasn't her fault. She loved a girl who didn't love her.

That was the conclusion I had come to a month ago. Our communication with Olivia had gotten better and the only thing I realized each time was that I missed her. Not Mary.

The two weeks that Mary and her parents had been on vacation in the islands made me realize that as much as I hated to admit it, my feelings for Mary were gone. Or maybe they never existed and I was just trying to heal my heart this way. And I was such an asshole for it. Because damn it, I'm older, I should've knew better. The girl was only seventeen, still a child. I was so fucking stupid.

Suddenly my doorbell rang.

"Oops, someone's ringing my doorbell. Can I call you tomorrow?"

"Okay. Bye."

I turned off my phone and went to answer the door. I wasn't expecting anyone but it helped me finish my conversation with Mary.

I opened the door but no one was there. Surprised, I walked forward, when suddenly I heard from behind me

"I thought I had the wrong apartment number, but thank God I didn't" came a voice behind me.

I turned around realizing it from the first seconds but not yet able to believe it. Behind the door, hiding, was Olivia, who couldn't hide the wide grin on her face at the sight of my surprised face.

"Oh my God, Liv!" That's all I could say before she jumped up and hugged me, making me stagger.

I hugged her tightly, even lifting her off the ground for a second. She hugged me and was so close that I could feel her heart beating frantically. Mine was beating the same way, though.
When we pulled away from each other, now just smiling, she said.

"I've missed you all this time!"

"And I missed you," I replied, and this time I meant it.

Olivia touched the tip of her nose to mine and smiled even wider. How I love her smile.

"Come in or what are you standing around for?" I smiled and we walked into my apartment.

Olivia only had a small backpack with her.

"When we talked yesterday you were in San Francisco, how did you end up here?" I asked while Olivia washed her hands.

"Well maybe I lied a little about my whereabouts and flight's to surprise someone."

"You're really something" I was very pleased and what can I say, the surprise was a success "how long have you been here?"

"Well...in the city itself for about an hour."

"Wait, you haven't even been home? I thought you'd been here at least a day."

"No, I dropped off my stuff and that's it," Olivia replied nonchalantly.

"But..." I started.

"No buts. Aren't you glad to see me?"

"Of course I am, but I'd like you to rest, sleep in your own bed."

"But I don't want that, Y/n" she said, looking me in the eye, "I want to spend this time with you."

"You're incorrigible," I said, rolling my eyes.
