Cw: minor abuse
~Alissa~
I sat uncomfortably under a huge grey blanket on my bed. I told Solar about my dad,the court case, how I was living with Luz until my dad won and I was living with him now. It was hard not to cry while telling her about it but I wasn't about to waste my tears on him.
I had been texting Solar for an hour since I got home and it seemed like I was going back to court in 2 weeks. But this time I couldn't run and hide from my dad. I thanked Mrs Mon Cherri several times for becoming my case worker and Solar for helping me but it was time to call Luz.
My phone rang for only a few seconds and then she picked up. "Hola mi amor," she sounded like she was tired. "Hi," I said into the phone as I fidgeted with my hair. "I was wondering if we could talk?" I asked softly.
"Yeah...what's up?" She sounded worried.
"I've talked to Solar and I'm going to go back to court in two weeks but this time I want you to formally be a witness," I anxiously said.
"Of course, but will you be ok at home with your dad?" Her voice softened.
"No but I'm not sure what to do," I mumbled, holding back tears. "Alissa please I need you to not cry. You need to call your case worker and see if you can arrange to stay away from him till the court day," a serious tone filled her voice.
"Ok?"
"Ok," I responded after a few moments.

I put down my phone after a very stressful call with my case worker and took a very deep breath. "Ok... time to pack," I quietly told myself. I shuffled around my room grabbing the bare minimum since I already had a few things at Luz's and tried my absolute best to stay quiet.
My dad would be getting the letter about my accommodation the next day so I made it a point to leave that night.
After I zipped my bag I quietly made my way down the stairs but because I was in such a rush I accidentally stepped on the squeaking step. "Alissa, what are you doing!" I heard my dad shout furiously from the top of the stairs. That was enough to send me running out the house. I didn't stop until I was halfway to Luz's.
~Luz~
I stepped out of my room after sulking and trying to call Solar back to no avail. The stress was getting to me and needed to get some water and cool down. Grabbing onto the railing I slowly made my way down stairs. I was nearly at the bottom when I heard her.
I tried my best to slip into my room before she could realize I was home but failed. "Luz is that you?" She called from the living room. I froze in place. "Don't be like that mommy just wanted to tell you some good news!" She got up and started to slowly make her way to me.
"What is it mother?" Motionlessly I asked.
"We're moving!" "It will be great for you,you get to start afresh!" She beamed.
"It's still a no," I simply stated.
"No? I'm your parent! I know what's best for you," she scolded, raising her hand.
"No, you know what's best for yourself!" I screamed back at her.
Tears started to stream down my face. "Fine you spoiled brat I tried to get you to come with me! I'll leave you here!" With that she yanked at my hair, ripping out a few strands."Bye then, I have a taxi to catch." She growled as she took a bag from the couch and left.
I fell to my knees once the door closed. "Why?" I sobbed into my hands. My breathing became heavier and faster, I started to sweat and the world around me started to blur. I didn't even notice the door open but before I knew it Alissa was in front of me.
"Breathe Luz, copy me," she slowly took deep breaths and I copied. After a few minutes went by I finally was able to ground myself. "What happened?" Alissa gentility asked as she pulled me in. "I...I- just lost my mother," I choked out.
"Luz it doesn't matter we have each other and if I'm honest I really do like you and want to take care of you but not just in friend way even if you don't think of me that way," tears where streaming down her face onto me now. I looked up at her.
"I like you too Alissa... and not in just a friend way," I started tearing up again.
"Oh..."
"Oh."
"Wanna go out after all this as more than just friends?" Alissa asked genuinely.
"As girlfriends? Yeah!" I responded feeling over the moon.
I leaned in and savoured her warmth. We stayed like this all night long.
Where did my motivation go :')
Notes:
Luz's house is ten minutes away from Alissa's (when walking( the gay speed))
Luz's mom never liked Luz's hair cause it reminded her of her husband.
