                             ~Alissa~

The judge was not impressed by the fact I was late to my own court case. She glared at me for the first few minutes of the court session. Finally we were ready to start.

The session was coming to an end and I was not winning. We had some evidence of scares but after them finding out about my self harm they weren't sure if I was lying. I was about to give up until Luz walked in. "Your honor, I am a witness" she said abruptly.

Her eyes landed on mine after a few moments. "Alissa was hurt by this man and I won't let her go back with him!" Her words echoed through the hall. "You are not part of this case ma'am so I will not be counting your testimony" the judge returned. "Bu- "
"No! Security will be leading you out now" she ordered.

Once Luz was out she hammered her mallet. "Court dismissed, side David Ceacero." As soon as the words left her mouth I fell to my knees. This could not be happening. My case worker comforted me as everyone left. I felt a slight pat on my shoulder. I looked up and was the person I wanted to see the least. My dad.

"Alissa it's time you came home" he said with a slight rasp. "No!" I screamed as I slapped his hand away from me. "Why are you hurting me?!" He grumbled. "I learned from the best," I retorted"
He looked at me with disgust. "See you at home" venom filled his voice.

As he left Luz ran back in and fell to her knees right next to me."Baby I'm so so sorry," she cried. I'm so so sorry.

                             ~Luz~

Hugging Alissa on the ground of a courtroom must be one of the hardest things I've done. It took all the power in me not to find the judge and rip her head off. In no way did she deserve this.

"I won't let him hurt you" I said trying to comfort her. "Promise?" She whispered through tears.
"Promise" I returned. We sat there in silence as long as we could. Alissa's case worker had already left roughly an hour ago. "I have to take you home" I told her while patting her head.

She didn't respond but didn't resist being taken to my moms car. Once she was seated in the passenger seat I got in and started the car. The drive was quiet and I wished I could have said something but I knew there was nothing I could do to make this better.

Once we reached her house we just sat there. "I don't want to let you go," I confessed. "I don't want to go," she sighed. "Promise me you'll be safe."
"I promise mi amour" she said with a false smile. I reached over and gave her a hug. I didn't want to let go but I did. She reluctantly got out of the car, closed the door and went in.

I sat staring at the door for a few moments. "Stay safe amore."

I have never been so motivated to get out of bed in my life but I had to see Alissa. I didn't eat breakfast and instead took my purse. I got on my bike and drove to her house. I knocked at her door as the sun finally rose. I was met with a more timid version of Alissa that was back to covering every part of her body.

"What you doing here so early Luz?" She asked quietly. "I wanted to take you out for coffee before school. I want to just hangout with you," I added.
"Ok hold up" she said as she closed the door. "I'm just going to go to school early dad!" I heard her say. I'm not sure what he said but she opened the door after a few moments and looked at me.

"Let's go," she said excitedly.

I don't remember writing this tbh.

Notes:
Her dad told her he doesn't care.
