After court we celebrated. We went out with Will and Solar for dinner. I prepared a date the next day for Alissa and I and for once I saw her fully and truly enjoy her life. Although she cried when they took her dad to jail. She assured me there were no regrets.

I filed a hearing against my mom and without much of a fight she admitted to being an abusive person. I have never been so happy to see someone behind bars.

We were happy.
...
I was happy.

"So Solar, how's the second trimester treating you?" I giggled.
"Not well you rats ass," she grumpily muttered.
"Solar don't be like that," Will softly told her.
"Uge fine!" She sighed.

"Hey Luz, think you could help me with the cookies?" Alissa sang from the kitchen.
"Yeah ok be right there," I responded, swinging my legs off the couch heading to her.

"Hey Alissa."
"Hi!"
I came up behind her and hugged her from the back. "I can't believe we're about to graduate," I whispered to her.
"Me nether."

"So what should I help with?"
"Umm just tell me your opinion on the cookies," she smiled.
I looked down to some carefully arranged cookies, they read. I want to take you to prom. May I? I looked back at her and she was wearing the dorkiest smile.

"Of course you idiot!"
I pulled her in and kissed her. The taste of her cherry chapstick filled my mouth as we fought for dominance. I bit her lower lip and she let out a groan.
"Can you guys not, we can hear you!" Solar growled. We pushed away from each other and grinned gingerly.

Graduation was amazing. Prom was amazing. Everything was amazing. My life has never been this fulfilling and it's all because I found Luz. Even if I lost her the first time.

Once in a while we both still get nightmares about the past but we're working on it. I started university and Luz got a job. We have never been happier.

"Hi love how was work?" I asked giving Luz a hug.
"It was boring as usual. How was school?" She looked up at me.
"Same old school to be honest," I let go of her and made my way back to the kitchen.

"I made tacos while I was on the phone with my therapist," I shouted over my shoulder.
Soon enough Luz popped her head into the kitchen. "Ooo I love your tacos,"she gracefully swished around the table to me.

"I love everything that you make," she muttered into my neck as she gave me a hug from behind.
"Everything except my casserole," I corrected.
"Yeah everything but the casseroles."
We stood there enjoying each other's company.

"Hey Luz," I softly said, breaking the silence.
"Hmm?"
"I love you."

...

"I love you too Alissa."

This took so long and as much as I'll miss writing this, I'm happy I'm done.

Notes:
I love you is a phrase they don't say often so it means so much when they do.

The casserole was too white girl for Luz.
