It's always scary when Alissa reveals something like this, life really hasn't been fair to her. I sat there running my free hand through her hair.

"Alissa?" I softly said.
"Yeah?"
I paused and thought about my next words for a second.

"I know your not ready for a relationship but I do want you to know it's ok to be gay ,and you definitely should not be ashamed." I calmly told her.

She stared into my eyes for a few moments.
"Thanks Luz." She muttered softly."

I was making pancakes in the early morning when an exhausted Alissa walked into the room.
"Nightmare?" I asked her.
"No, just did some late night digging." She yawned as she propped herself on the kitchen counter.

"Oh really?" I said as I finished plating our pancakes.

"Yeah I think I'm finally ready to report my dad to the authorities." She said with a slight shiver at the last word.

I sat down at the table and patted the seat next to me for her to come sit on. She shuffled over and sat next to me.

"I'm so proud of you Alissa." I whispered into her ear as she lay her head on my shoulder.

"So so proud"

"Hello Miss Cecaro, I am glad to tell you that your case will be taken to court on the 5th of November." My case worker told me over the phone.

"Really?" I said excitedly.
"Yes"
"I am glad you're happy, I'll stay in contact. Hope you have a lovely day Miss Cecaro."
"You too" I said as I quickly hung up and threw myself at Luz."

"I'm guessing the call went well," she giggled. I nodded vigorously.

"I'm so happy for you Mi amor"
We stopped giggling and looked at each other.

"S...Sorry it just slipped out" she stuttered.
"No no! I've always thought it's kinda hot that you speak Spanish" I mumbled the second part.

I could feel the blush build up on my cheeks. Luz took this to her advantage.

She put her hand under my chin and whispered into my ear "Te quiero cariño."
I felt myself flush a deeper red.

She gave a little peck to my nose and walked away,making sure to swing her hips a little more than usual.

Later that night I decided to text solar and Will.

Ali: Hi guys👋
Will: hey boo
Solar: hi Ali, I'm sorry about what I said last week.
Solar: plz forgive me 🥺
Ali:it's fine Solar I forgive you
Will: yay!! Best friend squad back together🥰
Solar: how bout we go out on the 4th of November?
Will:sure!
Ali:sure but can I bring a friend??
Solar: yeah can't wait to see them.bye 😘
Will: bye 👋

Ali: bye ✌️

I decided that forgiving Solar was the best decision. What she said hurt me but as I stared at the ceiling I found peace with myself.

I walked over to Luz in the living room.
She was sitting under the fairy lights reading. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Hey Al" she said as she waved me over.
"What you want?"

"I was talking to my friends about meeting up on the forth and I was wondering if you'd like to come too?"

"I don't think I should"she looked like she was thinking.
"Please?" I begged leaning onto her chest.
"Umm...fine but this is not because I like you!" she quickly added.
"Sure you don't " I said as I walked off to my room.
