"Fuck" he muttered under his breath as he left the car and walked into the front yard. Knocking on the door, he was welcomed by two familiar faces.
"Channie~" said Han smiling. Chan didn't have time for their jokes now. He pushed past them and apologized, going inside the office after knocking on the door.
"I.N" called Bangchan the younger out of breath. I.N raised his gaze from the papers. "Read this" he said as he gave him his papers.
Hyunjin froze in his place as he saw the article. Compared to him, I.N didn't have any reaction; his face was emotionless. "It's fine. I've covered everything; it's either buried six meters under or burned" he said nonchalantly, giving the older his phone back.
He took the phone hesitantly, thinking about what the younger said. Yes, I.N was four years younger, but he grew up in the mafia; he had a scary part, a much darker side to him then he let people on.
"It's not much anyway" continued I.N taking his pen and spinning it in his fingers.
"Though, I can't help but wonder, Bangchan..." said Hyunjin as he wet his lips slightly, "who wrote that?"
Chan gulped and smiled with a half of his mouth. "The guy I told you about"
"The one from today?" asked Hyunjin.
Chan nodded.
"He doesn't seem to have a lot of information, but he won't stand out of he's covering for us" remarked I.N. "So? Is he onboard?"
"Still thinking" answered Chan.
The two nodded and went back to their planning. Chan was ready to leave the room when I.N's voice stopped him. "I need one of you tomorrow"
Hyunjin looked confused at I.N. Though, he didn't question his choice.
"I contacted someone and told them that some merch might be there. I need someone on field to update us" continued the younger. "No fighting unless necessary; just watch from afar and send me info on it. Pretty easy overall"
"Now that I think about it" started Hyunjin, putting his hand on I.N's shoulder, "we might need to take some stuff too. Right, Innie?"
I.N nodded.
Chan analyzed all the requirements and suggested a candidate: Han.
"That works perfectly" said Hyunjin. "Chan, please bring the reporter here as soon as possible, too" he added, glancing at I.N. the younger didn't say anything. "I want to find out something..."
Chan nodded. He turned and tried to leave the room, only for I.N to call the older yet again. "Chan, don't worry about the stuff with the Yangs. It had been dealt with already" he explained as he did a specific move with his fingers. It was their secret sign for I'm ok.
He left the room with another nod, thinking about what I.N did. Chan couldn't help but worry for I.N when it came to his family. He and the younger were closer than it seemed; they had known each other for years, since I.N was barley a teenager. They developed a few secret messages over the years, just in case something bad happens. I.N didn't use that specific unless it was about his emotions. It was their own little language.
In the kitchen, Han and Changbin were waiting for the older with coffees ready.
"So, uh" started Changbin, "everything ok? You seem lost in thought"
"Ah, um... yea, yea" dismissed Chan as he took a sip of his coffee. "Just organizing my schedule"
Han put his arm on Chan's shoulder and leant on him, chuckling. "Man, you missed so muuuch today" laughed Han, watching Changbin look away embarrassedly. "He made I.N make a hole in the wall"
"Fuck you" muttered Changbin.
Han started laughing shamelessly. "Woah, I.N was such a savage today! You should've seen when-"
"And that's enough" stopped Changbin the younger as he put his hand over his mouth. "YOH!" shouted Changbin when he felt Han lick his hand. "YOU TRAITOR! I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DO THAT ONE MORE TIME, YOU'RE DEAD"
"Yo, Chan, you hear this dude?" teased Han the older. "So scary! Chan, please help me" said Han as he faked his shaking.
"HEY!" told Changbin Han as he raised his hand.
"Chan, look at this guy! He's so violent!"
"HUH?"
"Mannerless"
"YOUR CHEEKS WILL BE FLAT WHEN I'M DONE WITH YOU"
Han put a hand on his chest as if hurt and opened his mouth. "THE AUDACITY-"
"C'MON SQUIRREL BOY"
"IT'S ON, WALRUS"
"WHAT?!"
"You heard me, yea!" argued back Han, raising his head. "A WAL-FUCKING-RUS"
"SHITTY SQUIRREL"
Chan was staring blankly at the window, questioning how he got stuck there and what he did to deserve that. He continued to drink his coffee completely unbothered by the shouting and the threats, wondering how long they'll keep doing it. Feeling a headache forming, he just sighed and moved Han's arm, which was still on his shoulder, and sat down. Han stopped for a second, shifting his gaze to Bangchan. He blinked a few times and put his hand on Changbin's shoulder.
"Changbinnie" started Han seriously, "we can't live without you anyways-"
"Please don't start singing that again" whined Changbin as he reminded himself of the one song his friends made for his birthday years ago. Sighing, he took a sip out of his coffee and started talking to Bangchan about random stuff, taking his out of his state. "I'll seriously beat you up" he added mid-conversation with Bangchan while glancing at Han.
Although they were loud, really loud, Bangchan loved them. He let them off the hook every time, dreaming of going back to his room where silence welcomed him.
When the two went back to being quiet, Bangchan told Han about his mission. The younger was a bit surprised; it wasn't usual for him to be sent on field. I.N's first choice had always been Bangchan, and it was never questioned. Bangchan was more than capable of managing everything on his own and deliver results.
"Wait, Channie" stopped Han Chan from talking. "Hyunjin asked for me?"
Han didn't know about Jeongin being the real boss; he thought Hyunjin was. As for the reason why he was guarding both of them, he had always been told that the youngest was Hyunjin's personal assistant and friend.
"Yea" Chan answered. "He said that it'd work perfectly"
Han started moving his body happily, excited about his mission. Changbin started teasing him and laughing but Han didn't argue back.
"If Han's on the field..." started Changbin putting his hand on his chin. "I have to guard Yoon?"
Bangchan shrugged and looked away. Ah, it's funny that they don't know who's who. It's weird to hear them call I.N Yoon.
"The lil dude is chill" told Han Changbin. "I don't understand why you're even worrying, seriously. He's not nosy and he's quiet. It's just like guarding a small fox."
Chan sighed and mentally slapped himself. "Guys, he's twenty-two," he reminded them. "Don't treat him like a kid; he's still in higher position than both of you."
Han smiled triumphantly. "Still..."
Changbin scoffed at the answer and drank his coffee in silence.
"Anyway, Han, he'll probably send you the location and time" continued Bangchan with his explanation as if he had never been interrupted. "Changbin, you'll do the usual probably."
Then, Changbin changed the subject of the discussion to food, as he was getting hungrier. They started planning what to eat for dinner. The youngers managed to convince Bangchan to make them some ribs on the grill. Bangchan gave in and negotiated with the two: unless they take care of the dishes, Bangchan won't even cook, telling them to eat it raw. Han and Changbin did a few rounds of rock paper scissors to decide who does the washing up. Somehow, Changbin manages to lose even though he ha down the first two rounds.
