After fighting with his sleep for hours on end, Changbin decided it was time for him to give up. Despite having a pretty good reason not to sleep, the moment he'd have to go to sleep during Seungmin's visit to his apartment was approaching rapidly. And thus, he ended up in this situation: half asleep after staying up to watch over none other than Seungmin...
Someone who actually values their sleep, also known as version of Changbin from a few hours ago, would go to sleep and possibly try to cuddle with Seungmin on the couch. Just possibly.
Even so, Changbin was very, very anxious. If usually he was calm and collected, even when he'd steal shit or do illegal activities with Bangchan when he was seventeen or when he'd casually eliminate targets through more or less orthodox methods, he was losing his mind over Seungmin sleeping.
Maybe he had grown soft over the years, maybe his heart was finally giving up o trying to hide his real feelings... Changbin could easily recall all the times he and Han would fangirl over the crazy things Chan used to do on his own and how he had grown soft. I have people I care about, people I need to come back to. If I'm rough around the edges I'm just gonna end up hurting those around me, Chan explained and it stuck with Changbin. He listened to the older. He too had people to come back to. And now that number of people was growing.
In the living room, the two were on the couch, which was one of the most comfortable places in the world, but Changbin knew that Seungmin's sleeping position wasn't exactly... ideal, to call it.
Some would ask what would be an ideal sleeping position? Changbin would answer with on my chest if he wasn't so scared and overthinking every little thing. I must correct myself: thoughtful. Changbin considered he was a thoughtful person, not an overthinking. One way or another, that's a debate for another day.
Going back to the conscious male on the couch, he was thinking of everything. What if Seungmin needed a pillow and a blanket? But what if he was a light sleeper and he woke up? What if he was cold in that exact moment? What if-
Changbin took a deep breath in, looking over the other one quickly. He looks ok, he is ok, he told himself. If he was feeling unwell, he would have woken up, Changbin told himself again and again in hopes of calming his anxious mind.
Without meaning to, he started to recap everything that had happened not too long after Seungmin fell asleep. That was all it took Changbin to realize that Bangchan hadn't texted him, which was pretty unusual for someone like him. Maybe it was the undiagnosed insomnia, mixed with his worries and the responsibility he had on his broad shoulders... possibly all of them. That word again, Changbin noticed.
A phone screen lit up, blinding the male for a few seconds. The notorious "You did great" or "Wanna go eat when I get home?" from Chan were nowhere to be seen, and his famous "You good bro?" was also missing in action, absent from Changbin's phone. Even his weird emojis were gone... which was quite unsettling, as stupid and dumb they might have been. Changbin typed a message and prayed that the older male would see it in due time.
Then, to his horror, no pop-up notification assuring him of the message being sent appeared on his screen.
No, no, no.
This just made Changbin more anxious... so he chose to continue staying up with the reason of guarding Seungmin, which was more or less accurate, and waiting for Chan's text.
He listened to the silence of the bodyguards' apartment, he looked at the curtains and waited for any kind of movement, he glanced at the panel of the security system every few seconds... yet there was nothing; it was just him, Seungmin's steady breaths and the moonlight.
