ONE. summer doesn't belong to you

ADELAIDE MONROE had grown deep hatred for her ex best friend Rodrick Heffley and he could understand where she was coming from. If he was her he'd also hate himself.

He used her to win a bet... pretty low and this was Rodrick Heffley.

He tried speaking to her in the halls and she simply ignored... which is one of the many reason Rodrick's friends picked on him.

But summer was coming close and this could change everything for Adelaide and Rodrick.

He could try and mend this friendship with her without his friends bombarding him and egging on Adelaide.

And Rodrick's first step was to get the girl to even look his way.

But how?

Well, he didn't have a little brother for nothing.

He decided to pick his brother Greg Heffley and his friend Rowley Jefferson up on their last day of school.

Of course, their other friend Keegan Monroe would be by their side. She was the other part of the plan of getting him and Adelaide back to being at least on speaking terms.

And that time would start sooner than he thought.

Adelaide had pulled into the school's busy parking lot and stood by her car as she waited for her sister to come skipping her way to only as to be dropped off at the Heffley residence later on.

She glanced up from her nails and saw the very loud white van from across the parking lot. Not much of a sight to see, especially now.

Adelaide continued looking around and found Keegan standing with Greg, Rowley, Holly Hills, and Rodrick at the entrance of the school.

They seemed engrossed in some conversation and if Greg and Rowley continued to stand there, Keegan wasn't going to budge.

So, with a huff, Adelaide pushed herself off of her car and made her way towards the group.

"Keegan!" Adelaide called, "Let's go!"

Rodrick sighed and began making his way towards Adelaide with Keegan wondering what his next steps were.

"Adelaide!" He smiled, "The band is going on this world tour and you're officially invited to join us backstage for every show."

He handed Adelaide the flyer and was shocked when she took it.

She didn't say another word as she turned, balling the flyer up and throwing it in the trash as she walked towards her car with Keegan by her side.

It was a step... good or bad was debatable, but it was a step nonetheless.

Rodrick pushed Greg over as he laughed at his antics.

This summer wasn't going to work out for Rodrick Heffley, but was going to try everything in his power to make it work.
