He felt light. His head felt separated from his body, like it was floating away. Like he was floating away.

He could distantly hear a repeated beeping sound and it bounced around in his skull, aching his eardrums before he heard something else, a muffled sound of someone talking. A muffled sound of someone crying.

Something poked his cheek, harsh & cold, every instinct told him to move away but he couldn't bring himself to move. He screwed his face up at the odd sensation and peeled his eyes open, at first all he saw was white - it took him a few more blinks to fully notice his surroundings. The first thing he noticed was the uncomfortable sensation in his nose, he furrowed his eyebrows and tried to move his hand up to feel what that feeling was but was immediately stopped by the shooting pain that ran through his arm in response. He whistled in pain & gritted his teeth, throwing his head back onto the pillow and unknowingly catching the doctors attention.

"Oh you're awake! That's good, you gave us quite a scare." At the unfamiliar voice Wilburs eyes shot open, "do you know why you're here?" The brunette stared down at the white sheet he was under and noticed the wire hooked around his fingers, then he noticed he was in a hospital and he felt the world crumble beneath him as he shakily nodded. He remembered wanting Phil.

The pain in his body was alot less tolerable than knowing he had just let everyone down.

"I won't ask any questions, its not my place. But we do have to call a dietician in since your nutrients were alarmingly low and you're also malnourished, was the man that brought you here your father?"

Wilbur blinked.

And then blinked again.

Dietician? Malnourished? Father?

What?

He tilted his head in confusion hoping the doctor would catch on to his unspoken question - thankfully he did.

"The brunette male, I think he said his name was Liam? He's in the waiting area."

Wilbur felt bile burning his throat,
"he's not my dad." He croaked out harshly, his own voice taking him by surprise - did he always sound so weak?

The doctor gave a sympathetic nod, "it says on your file that your emergency contact is Eret. Should we contact him?"

Wilbur nodded.

After the doctor left Wilbur stared at the white wall. He took a breath in, and then he felt guilt twist at his limbs. Liam had brought him here. Liam had found him passed out.

He was still mad at the man he grew to learn was nothing more than a stranger, but guilt pulled his feet out from beneath him and he closed his eyes once more.

When he opened them again, he saw Erets tear-stained face sitting next to him. Immediately she noticed his eyes fluttering open and Wilbur felt gentle arms around him, heard him sobbing into his shoulder.

"I was so scared, Wilbur." She cried out, pulling away and staring at him with a sympathetic smile. One Wilbur had seen too many times before, but that was when he was leaving.. it felt out of place and morbid to see that same smile while he was laying in a hospital bed, though he said nothing. He brought his pain & wire free hand up to his face and felt something on his cheek, he looked up at Eret with confusion etched into his raised eyebrow.

Eret wiped her tears, refusing to acknowledge the unspoken question.

He ran his fingers along the raised line realising it was the thing causing the uncomfortable sensation in his nose. For a second, he couldn't connect the dots.. but when he did - he missed the naiveness.
