Nick's laughter echoed the whole diner as he and Billy Marlin did a high-five and the other members of the wrestling team joined them with a couple of exciting bangs on the table. Most of them are still buzzed after the day's wrestling match against Riverdale HIgh's own wrestling team.
"Brina, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that that smile on your face has been plastered on you," Theo said as he chuckled and Robin nodded beside him.
"Girl, you haven't stopped smiling since your boyfriend won a match against Riverdale's supposed-to-be champion wrestler," Roz commented as she took another sip of her smoothie. "It's the longest time you've smiled this week though, so, not complaining. It looks really good on you."
"Yeah, and to think just this morning you were all worried that he still hasn't fully recovered, and now here we are, celebrating his victory," Harvey added.
They are currently at the diner across Paramount. They usually preferred Dr. Cerberus' but since today was a special day, they all decided to go there. Mostly because they all wouldn't fit in the small bookstore and because most of the football team and cheerleaders were also with them so it got crowded fast.
"Yeah well, he did a great job, didn't he?" She beamed at him more brightly, who at the same time, looked their way and winked at her. They were currently at different tables, her with her friends and a couple of cheerleaders and him with the wrestling team.
"Yeah well, I'd be proud too if I was her," Theo said, more excited than ever. "Nick was as fast as lightning. As soon as the ref blew the whistle did you see that takedown he did? And don't get me started on how fast he always escapes when that Riverdale dude got him." Theo did another play-by-play of the match that happened. He had a very good audience so she leaned back and took another glance at Nick. Not that she didn't want to listen but she was there during the match and she watched the whole of it.
Nick was now laughing at how Billy and Carl tried to mimic him taking down his opponent. She felt so lighthearted at the moment like nothing could go wrong in the world. It had been a week since she got him back and it seemed like forever ago. Their recuperation had been quick, thanks to Hilda's herbs and potions. And even though Hilda insisted that they take another week from school, they both stood their ground. They had been away for far too long and they needed to catch up on their lessons, they simply said. Zelda raised an eyebrow at them as if they said something ridiculous.
Wanting to go back though, was more of just the need for things to get back to normal again. So, three days prior, they got back to school and so far, it had been great. Granted, they were very, very busy but also, they were both just simply happy that things were working out.
What caught her off guard though was Nick immediately wanting to get back on the wrestling team. They even had a small argument about it, which ended up with them trying to sleep with their backs on each other. It didn't last though because Nick eventually turned and wrapped his arms around her.
"I feel like it's just too soon," she remembered saying as soon as she felt Nick's arms enveloping her with him whispering, I'm sorry.
"I know baby, but please trust me when I say that I can do this." He kissed the back of her head and snuggled closer to her. She didn't say anything but just welcomed his embrace. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, but it was just too soon for her. She knew that Hilda's herbs and potions were working, she just couldn't wrap her head around it yet.
"Are we fighting?" he asked after a few minutes of silence.
"No. We're not," she whispered.
He sighed. "Can I get a good night kiss then?"
