I walked into the office and Endeavor looked at me.

"Morning." I said.

"I see you got a taste of what being a hero can be like yesterday."

"Don't remind me."

He chuckled.

I set my stuff down on my desk.

"I have a meeting with some shareholders of my agency in a few minutes, so you will have to go out on patrol on your own today."

"Okay."

He walked over to me and handed me an ear piece. "I will be wearing mine so if you need anything let me know. Press the top button to talk to me. The earpiece is connected to other heroes that are on duty so press the bottom one if you need back up faster."

"Thanks." I put it in my ear and stood up.

"Good luck." He said.

I left the office and headed out.

I walked through the busy streets of the city. It was quite boring.

A group of high school girls came up to me. "Epitome can we get a picture with you?" Asked one of the girls.

I smiled. "Sure!"

They crowded around me and one of them took a picture.

One of them turned to me. "You are such an inspiration." She said shyly.

"Thank you. Have a good day guys!"

They waved goodbye and we parted ways.

I continued walking for the next half hour when I heard a scream from a building next to me.

My head whipped toward the scream. Someone was holding a woman by the neck over the side of the roof.

I took off toward the building.

I burst into the lobby and people looked at me confused.

"How do I get to the roof?" I asked quickly.

"The elevator, top floor, third door on the right." Said a man quickly.

I nodded and ran to the elevator. Once inside, I hit the button to the top floor.

I burst out the door onto the roof.

The woman was lying limp on the roof. I was about to go over to her when someone stepped over her.

A man. A really buff man. He was bald and wore a white tank top. Tattoos covered his arms. He flashed his rotting teeth at me. "Epitome." He looked behind me. "Where is Endeavor?"

"Not here." I said harshly. "What do you want?" I looked at the woman on the ground.

"She's not dead." He said. "Yet."

"What do you want?" I said in a low warning voice.

"Well, I was hoping to get Endeavor but it's only you."

"What do you want with Endeavor?"

"Revenge."

"For what?"

"He put my husband in prison."

This dude had a husband? Looking like that? I don't even want to know what the husband himself looked like. "He wouldn't have been imprisoned if he didn't deserve it." I said.

The man smirked as if he hadn't heard me. "I guess this works out better than I thought. Endeavor took someone I cared about and I will return the favor." The man took a step closer to me.

"Good luck with that." I said. My darkness danced on my fingertips, waiting to be released. I thought about contacting Endeavor but this guy wanted to kill Endeavor so it was probably best I handle this myself.

The man pulled something out of his pocket. A lump of metal. He grinned as it molded into what looked like a throwing star. He shot out his hand and the metal came at me.

I ducked to the side and narrowly avoided it. I unleashed my darkness. Two strands of black shot out from my hands and reached toward him. He rolled to the side as his metal came back to him. He threw it at my darkness. It passed right through and rounded back to him.

He let out a strange sound, like an animal.

He changed the shape of the metal again into a dagger but just the blade part. He threw it at me faster than I expected.

I threw up a shield of darkness but the metal went through it and sliced my shoulder. I hissed and threw the darkness toward him.

I heard people talking and yelling on the streets below the building.

The man pulled more metal lumps from his pocket. He molded them all at the same time into more dagger blades.

Shit. His metal can go through my darkness. I will have to rely on just my body to not get impaled by metal.

He sent the blades flying at me. I dropped to the floor, one of the blades sliced my cheek. I felt blood drip down my face.

His blades were all around, floating in the air. They surrounded me. I looked up at the man. He held his hands up.

I smirked. I threw strands of darkness out from my hands as I stood up.

The man shot the blades at me just as my darkness reached him. One of the blades sliced my stomach, another got my thigh.

I ignored the pain and wrapped my darkness around him. Pinning his arms to his side. The metal fell to the ground. His eyes widened and I gave him a mocking smile. "Guess my good luck didn't work for you."

All of a sudden the door to the roof burst open and Endeavor, along with police walked onto the roof.

The man began to struggle against my darkness. "I will fucking kill you endeavor!" The man screamed.

I started to feel light headed. I felt wet, like I just took a shower. Why was I wet? The world began to turn. I shook my head and focused back on the man.

The police wrapped his arms down with a rope and put his hands in gloves that looked to be made of cement.

I reeled back my darkness and swayed on my feet. I felt like my skin was on fire and my eyelids were so hard to keep open.

A heavy hand landed on my shoulder. "Epitome?"

I looked over. Endeavor stood there. He looked alarmed.

I tried to shrug off his hand but I let out a cry of pain. I looked down. Red. Red everywhere. There was a large puddle of it under me. Where did that come from?

I looked at my stomach. There was a large gash from my belly button to my side. The blood came from me.

My vision got blurry and the world tilted before it went dark.
