AWKWARD SITUATIONS TEND TO find Paxton no matter the occasion as if she were a magnet. Situations where she wishes she had never been invited into so she could avoid the tension altogether.
Tonight's occasion is at Isaac's house.
After spending the afternoon with Stiles and Scott, searching for what's believed to be Lydia, she received an invite from Isaac. He sent her text asking if she'd like to come over for dinner, proclaiming himself as the 'best cook in all of Beacon Hills'. His father wouldn't be there, he finally decided that Isaac couldn't work for him anymore so he took his usual shift at the cemetery, digging yet another grave in the cursed town. This time, it's for the man that had been found in the back of the ambulance that had been attacked. The quick timing of the attack meant Mr. Lahey had to go to work early. Well, as early as he could with the recent Argent funeral happening just a few hours before.
Of course she accepted Isaac's invite, needing an excuse to leave her house before Charlie could ask her about having a certain conversation that she's not ready for.
"So, what're we having tonight, chef?" she asks Isaac as she leans against his kitchen counter beside him.
Stirring a pot of noodles, he looks over to her, "it's a surprise," he tells her despite a can of tomato sauce sitting on the counter she's leaned against, an obvious sign that he's making spaghetti. "So, what'd you do today? Well, other than set a terrible example in class."
She fakes a smile, expressing her annoyance of his added comment. "Yeah, detention was a blast. It was so fun, in fact, that Mr. Harris made us stay later than we were supposed to."
"Is that allowed?" he asks while pouring the sauce into the pot.
"Nope. Well, I don't really know but it didn't feel right. He's just punishing Stiles because of his father."
"What'd his father do?"
She sighs, "his job."
"I'm sure being a cop makes people a lot of enemies."
"You have no idea," she softly laughs finding his words ironic. "Other than that, I didn't do much else," she lies.
"Sounds eventful."
"It was truly a great first day back at school."
Once Chef Isaac finishes his dish, he reaches for two plates in cabinet above her. She grabs them from him, offering to set the table since he cooked. She sets the table that shares the same room as the kitchen. She places their plates beside each other; Isaac's at the end of the table and her's on the side.
"This is a great upgrade from hanging out at the cemetery," she says as he puts the food on the table.
"And we don't have to worry about falling in holes or the police getting called," he smiles.
"This is a good life we have," she jokes.
"The goodest," he responds, his poor grammar adding to his humor.
