ignorance is bliss, right?___
AFTER JACKSON'S REVEAL, a few police cars brighten the streets with their infamous lights. Derek and his pack had left shortly after the kanima, Jackson, had disappeared into the night. Paxton and Allison sit in Lydia's car, silently waiting for the girl to speak. But she couldn't even understand what happened, much less talk about it. They leave Scott and Stiles to deal with the officers' many questions, to which all the answers point a lie that someone had broken into Scott's house.
Lydia rests her face in her hands, on the brink of tears. The last thing she could remember was Allison yelling for her to hide in the upstairs bathroom. After she left the small space, the first thing she saw was Erica lying on the floor. She watched Allison pull out a spare arrow, coating it in the venom that surrounded a window before she was told to hide once again.
"I need you to promise that you won't say anything about what just happened," Allison breaks the silence. "Not to your mom, or— or your dog. No one. Can you do that?"
Irritated, Lydia looks to the girl in her passenger seat with a cold glare. "I'll promise not to say anything about what just happened if you tell me what the hell just happened."
Allison turns to the backseat, silently asking Paxton to answer. She shakes her head with wide eyes. She couldn't even tell her own brother about the supernatural, much less tell Lydia. Her opinion on the subject stubborn, never changing from the horror that might occur from telling the secret.
"I-It's kind of complicated," Allison sighs, wishing there were a better way to explain it all.
Not that either of the girls could explain anything they've seen. Where would they start, Peter Hale threatening their lives?
Allison cuts her eyes to Paxton, wondering when she'll help her with the conversation. Paxton shrugs, wishing she didn't have to decide at all. After Lydia had written 'Someone Help Me' on the chalkboard of their classroom, it's hard not to tell her about their hidden life. An obvious cry for help that no unknowing human could decipher. Perhaps if they tell Lydia, she would have an answer for her odd behavior.
Her heart aches for her brother. She had blocked him out for far too long for his own protection. But who is she really protecting, him or herself?
"Oh, 'it's complicated'?" Lydia scoffs. "Yeah, right. How 'bout you start with why Derek was here? O-Or where Jackson went? Maybe what was wrong with Erica and Isaac?"
Allison lets in a sharp inhale as she stares through the windshield, wishing words could come to her mind.
"Oh, do you need to come up with a plausible lie?"
Allison snaps her attention to her. "Part of the reason I'm asking is because Scott and I aren't supposed to be seeing each other, okay? So it's better if you just keep what you know to yourself," she begs as she turns her body towards her.
"Fine, I'll keep what I know about you and your boyfriend, which is nothing, to myself," she rolls her eyes, looking forward to ignore Allison and Paxton. "I won't say anything because I don't know anything."
"Hey, Scott's not just my boyfriend. You get that right?" Allison places a hand on Lydia's as it rests on the middle console.
She jerks her hand away. "Don't."
"Just for one second, please, just try to remember-"
"Remember what?" Lydia huffs, her cold glare returning back to Allison.
