*322 South Aberdeen, West Loop*
Hank and Ana walked into a Condo, growing a bit worried when they spotted Kim standing a few feet away with Trudy at her side. Because the Officer was currently expecting, both Sergeants had thought it best for her to be transferred over to the 911 call center for the time being. The fact that she was here, of all places, put them a little on edge.
"So what do we got?" The older man wondered.
"What we got is no idea." The Desk Sergeant muttered.
"I got the call at dispatch. Woman calling from inside the condo, asking for help. Patrol responded, interviewed the husband and wife. We followed up, We found the husband dead downstairs." Kim explained.
"And all of this happened between the hours of your initial and the follow-up?" Ana asked in confirmation.
"Yeah, patrol saw no signs of disturbance." The Officer shrugged.
"Door was unlocked when we got here, signs of a struggle inside. Lots of blood trail." Trudy listed.
"Oh, yeah. Someone took a heavy beating in that master bathroom." Kim nodded.
"Husband?" Hank guessed.
"I don't know. I think the wife. The landline was in the bathroom. I'm thinking she took a beating, called me, then killed the husband, but it's miles away from confirmation." The Officer speculated."
"There's no cameras in the building, and no witnesses so far." Trudy finished.
The two Sergeants shared a quick look.
"Well, Hun, let's start with trying to locate the wife." Ana decided.
"You got it." Her best friend replied instantly and walked off towards the door.
"There are our guys." Kim gestured behind the couple and they turned to see a pair of patrol Officers standing just outside in the hallway.
"Come on." Hank urged, walking over to the two men.
Kim followed him and they shifted closer together to hide Ana's small figure upon noticing that she was staying behind them.
"Hey." The older man greeted.
"Sarge, this makes no sense." Officer Jeffries shook his head.
"Okay." Hank gestured for him to continue.
"We were here a few hours ago. If something had felt wrong, we wouldn't have left." Jeffries assured.
"Listen, you can't always see these things coming." The male Sergeant pointed out, glancing at Kim. "What I wanna know is, did you guys go inside the apartment?"
"No, we spoke with Mr. And Mrs. Weller at the door." Jeffries replied.
"Huh." Hank grunted.
"They were happy, laughing. I mean, there were zero reasons to go inside." Officer O'Malley, Jeffries' partner, shrugged.
"Did you see anyone around when you entered the building?" Kim inquired, casually opening the file in her hands and angling a photo towards the two patrolmen.
"Is that- Can I see that file?" O'Malley wondered.
"Yeah." The female Officer nodded, handing it over.
"This isn't-" O'Malley shook his head while his partner looked on with his mouth open in shock.
"What's going on?" Hank demanded.
"This isn't the woman we spoke to." O'Malley frowned.
"That's Ann Weller's current DMV photo." Kim retorted.
