It was nighttime in Chicago as Hank and Ana walked down a large street near an unknown bar. The area was flooded with police and other first responders. They had arrived on scene when Adam got into a slight accident after he had claimed to have witnessed someone being kidnapped. The two Sergeants spotted him sitting in the back of a nearby ambulance and proceeded to make their way over.
"Uh-huh." The older man grunted in response to the look on the Officer's face.
"How you holding up?" The brunette wondered after noticing a small cut on the left side of his head.
"Well, I'll tell you what. Those airbags are no joke." He muttered.
"A few cuts and bruises, but no signs of a concussion. He'll be fine." A nearby paramedic assured.
"Can you give us a minute?" Hank requested.
"Yeah." She nodded and walked off.
"You know it's not what it looks like." Adam shook his head.
"I sure hope not." Hank scoffed.
"I saw the kidnapping. I commandeered the car to give chase. As I rounded the corner, there were some pedestrians in the street, so I swerved to avoid them." The Officer explained, quietly.
The two Sergeants exhanged a quick glance.
"And you're sure you saw a kidnapping?" Ana asked in confirmation.
"I'm 100% sure. There was at least two kidnappers. One of them was driving." Adam recalled as he stood up.
"Make and model of the vehicle?" The brunette inquired.
"A Silver Isuzu Rodeo. Couldn't get the plates." He replied.
"Responding officer smelled liquor on your breath. I'm guessing you're gonna blow high." Hank pointed out.
"Boss, I saw a violent abduction. I took action. You know, drinking or no drinking, the woman needed help. I'll take that beef all week long." Adam reasoned.
"All right, I'll talk to the patrolman, make sure he understands what happened." The older man offered.
"Thank you." He nodded.
"Witnesses?" Ana wondered, looking over as Kevin and Vanessa walked up.
"Not many. None sober. Nobody saw the kidnapping." The former sighed.
"Yeah, the couple that owns the car Adam used? We got them to calm down. Mostly. We sent them home in a Lyft." His partner reported.
"All right, loop in Kim and Bluejay. Canvass for more witnesses and security cams." Ana ordered. "Let's find out what happened here."
"Copy that." Kevin murmured, giving Adam a friendly shoulder bump before heading off with Vanessa in tow.
"You got your head in the game?" Hank demanded once they were gone.
"I'm good." The Officer assured.
"All right. Let's head back to the District, put a pot of coffee on." The older man commanded. "You're running point on this."
*Bullpen: A Little While Later*
"Boss, uh, Platt's looking into all new missing person's reports." Adam informed, spotting Hank coming out of his Office as he moved away from the whiteboard.
"All right, let's start at the beginning." The older man shrugged, stopping next to his wife's desk. "Describe the woman who was abducted."
"I only saw her briefly, but she was a blonde Caucasian, about 5'8", early 20s." The Officer listed.
