*District 21: Bullpen*
"Okay. Our scene is clean. Detective Ray called it perfect. We got nothing." Hank muttered, moving over to Ana's desk from where he'd originally been gazing at the whiteboard.
"That's 12 suspected bodies on Gael, including his own cousin." Kim gestured to a photo of said man with a marker.
"All right, take it from the top again." The brunette instructed with a small sigh.
"All right, our main target today is Gael Rodriguez. He's a middleman between cartels and gangs. He sells mass quantities of drugs to west side gang factions." Jay informed as he and Kevin took Kim's place at the board while she perched on a corner of Adam's desk.
"As we know, Gael is smart, okay? He doesn't leave a footprint. Doesn't touch the gun or the product. Keeps his hands clean, hard as Hell to pin, but last night I think we got a way in." The male Officer explained. "TJ Trevino is set for a buy."
"TJ confirmed he'd sell four kilos as a test run." Vanessa added from her desk.
"The buy is set today, 3:00 p.m." Hailey interjected from where she was sitting on Kim's.
"So money and drugs exchange hands, we grab TJ, flip him for Gael." Hank summarized with a short nod.
"Bluejay, why don't you and Hailey take the lead on this one?" Ana suggested. "Just remember, we're running this guy for drugs. . ."
"But our objective is to end the violence." The older man finished for her. "Stay light."
"Copy that." Kevin nodded.
*A Little While Later*
Ana looked up as her husband walked in from the Interrogation Area with their two Detectives flanking him on either side. Something went wrong with the deal and both Sergeants were keen on finding out just what.
"Atwater pressed him. TJ held strong." Hailey reported.
"He get burned?" Hank inquired.
"I don't think so." The blonde shook her head. "I don't think he ever showed."
The brunette furrowed her brows in confusion at the same time the older man released a grunt in response.
"Look, maybe Gael smelled something was off or TJ was talking game he couldn't back up." Jay shrugged as the three moved into Hank's Office. "Either way, no new partners means we're dead on undercover."
Ana appeared in the doorway, crossing her arms a few seconds later
"Gael just killed his girlfriend. He's probably laying low, scattering. We've seen guys like this before." Hailey pointed out. "What happened is Gael's good at his job."
The two Sergeants shared a look.
"Well, I'm betting we can make this sound like we've exhausted all other options." Ana murmured, thoughtfully.
"You thinking Title Three?" The blonde turned to face her, only for Hank to speak instead.
"We get one, we'll do a full-scale wire." The older man agreed.
"Okay." Hailey nodded and the two Detectives left the Office while the brunette went back to her desk.
*The Next Day: Computer Room*
"So we got Gael's cars and his address, but so far he's not doing anything incriminating on the wire." Jay reported. "The more intel we gather, it's pretty clear that he keeps himself clean. He trusts his men. He goes to them directly."
