Alona collapsed next to the Wolf after using <Dirt Ball>. She'd ravaged the man and felt no remorse. Indeed, if he thought it was okay to do, then it should be, right?
That was rather dangerous.
The Witch hadn't ever thought about it before. But this Wolf had latent self-contained mana in his blood. A blessing. Probably part of what made his people so impressively huge.
When she got too excited her mana leaked into him, glowing a soft orange through his veins. If she'd pushed a little harder, she would've awakened the dormant ability and stigmata his Tribe had received from The Beast Witch Rava.
Orange Mana was her signature. And she loved blessing beasts to be her companions many generations ago.
Alona snorted and shook her head. Too bad for Brutus. She'd never awaken his blessing with how awful he was. For all she knew he'd use it for evil. It felt so ironic to her. His Tribe was probably devastated when their blessing went dormant. She was the only thing in this world that could give it back to them.
And Brutus was actively assaulting her, weekly. It made her want to cackle madly. But she reserved herself.
The Predator could wake up at any moment. She wrapped herself around him, snuggling into his neck sweetly. pretending to be fast asleep.
As he came to, he groaned. Rubbing his eyes. Disoriented and confused. He only felt the vague remanence of a nightmare, chewing the back of his head. But he'd blanked it out. His mind failing to understand or digest the trauma.
The Wolf glanced down and saw the bunny cuddled up to him. Sleeping soundly in his arms. It made him feel so warm and fuzzy inside, he hugged her, breathing her in. his tail wagging a bit, thudding against the bed.
"Alona." He called her name. And spoke softly. Shaking her slightly. She stirred and mumbled, wrapping her arms around his neck and cuddling him closer. He chuckled. She was rather handsy in her sleep.
He shook her again and her eyes popped open. He felt such an eerie and ominous prickle, nibbling the back of his neck. But logic won out and wrapped him up in his comfortable reality.
She blinked and took a deep breath, realizing where she was and shrinking into that sad and scared state again. It made him want to punch himself.
He rubbed her smooth arm and kissed her forehead.
"See nothing happened? I kept my word." He said calmly. Alona's insides rolled with delight, it worked. She'd done it. This was the most insane and thrilling thing she'd ever done.
The door opened abruptly; a Wolf boy peeking his head in the doorway.
"Brutus, we need you for a moment." He said urgently, glancing nervously between the huge Wolf and the rabbit.
The Boss grumbled loudly and got up, stomping out of the building quickly. Again, stepping around his equipment.
"Lyle, you watch my bunny." He barked and the Black Wolf swept through the door and swiftly shut it behind him.
She had curled up into a ball in the bed. Her hair covering her face and long ears laying back. He came over slowly and sat down on the edge.
"Hello there." He said gently, but she didn't respond. It was rather awkward.
"My name is Carlyle. But everyone calls me Lyle. What's your name?" He asked nicely. The rabbit gave a heavy sigh and tucked her hair behind her ear, looking up at him.
"Alona." Her voice was quiet. But he heard her. The Wolf smiled and nodded.
"Could I ask you how you came to be.... Prey? To three Predators?" He asked nervously and Alona froze. Was he going to ask her about herself? Should she play with him? If he was going to ask deeper questions, she'd answer them truthfully.
