I.
Standing on a dark ledge
Staring into my doom
Hope's whispers never reach me
I'm unaffected by the moon

Trepidation won't you heed me
Save my heart from hurt again
Your words pierce
Shattering me
Caution evades me
Willingly
I'm defenseless once again

Stranded in the darkness
Bound forever in your chains
Swimming against the whirlpool
With only myself to bequeath the blame

Trepidation won't you heed me
Save my heart from hurt again
Your words pierce
Shattering me
Caution evades me
Willingly
I'm defenseless once again

Searching in denial
To free my soul from your cage
One answer preserves these shackles:
Does the master need this slave?

II.
Standing on this dark ledge
A siren calls me once again
A different voice but do I dare hope
Can my heart survive another break

Trepidation spins away into the wind
As springtime twirls me in his light
My laughter, a sound I'd forgotten, erupts
And I fear the lure of his moonlit night

I tend to leap, caution's whispers ignored
Exhilaration blinders hide the topography below
Too much is at stake, yet it may be too late
And I fear he still searches for a better fate

Hand on heart I trust his words
(Heart upheld I'm truly his)
