The Insomniac's Lullaby

Welcome Home

-Midnight's POV-

We had sent the Messenger and have gotten our return. We packed together, I had started staying at his house. The emancipation from my parents for their abusive behavior and unsave enviroment for minor was easy. So, I moved in with Dagger. It wasn't hard to pack, it was just kinda a backpack trip.

"I just want to let you know, that you must stay by me at all time. We will be passing through a forest that is riddled with nasty creatures and things that wouldn't stop for a second to not kill you. It would be fine if you were trained and fully endowed into you power. So just stayed by me, and don't let the Tempter take you into her hold."

I wanted to know what the Tempter was, but I knew better than to question in this world, and frankly I didn't want to know.

The next morning we left. We drove down the highway and into a little run down truck stop.

"What are we doing here?" I asked, this just didn't make since.

"You will learn that in the world Unseen, that what seems like less is always much more than meets the eye. This truckstop is a Passage. Anybody can go into it, but only certain people can go through it. This will take us into the Other Realm. This is the place of unbridled power, magic, and creatures. Here people are all magical or some kind of creature." I could just see that look on his eyes that I must trust him and not to ask questions unless it's necassary.

We walked into the truck stop, and where there should be roaches and a run down truck stop that has cheap snacks that deserve to be in a garbage can, there was a world if trees and monsters, and many other kind of things that you can't explain. You just have to see it.

"Woah! This is unreal. I...I can't believe there is a world just on the edge of my own, that I couldn't see."

He let out a low chuckle.

"Welcome home."

Home, he was right, this is more my home then in the other world. This is a place where I would belong, where I could be different and it wasn't that big of a deal.

We began our journey to the Specials.

"It won't take all day, it will just be kind of hard being it your first time in the Other Realm."

We began walking down the dirt path. I could hear rustling in the bushes and grunts and snarls.

"Don't worry, you will hear that no matter where you go here."

The air here tingled with magic and the unreal. Something that I never knew existed, just to find out that I belonged to this world.
