~Midnight's POV~
After the breakdown, we continued. We walked the path, and I held his hand, tighter than I had every held anything. I held it like it was my life line, like he was my soul. I couldn't lose him, he was mine, now and forever.
"How much longer?"
He stopped and looked at me with those brilliant eyes, almost a sad look in them.
"What's wrong?"
He sighed, "It's just this whole way, you've been in constant danger. We've both been on edge, specially about the Tempter. Maybe we should stop for a second."
I was shocked. I knew he was right though, now I was not only terrified of the monsters here, but of myself. Maybe a stop would be nice.
"Where are we going to go?" I squeezed his hand a little.
He smiled, but it just didn't reach his eyes. "I know just the place."
~Dagger's POV~
She had looked at me with those eyes, so full of wonder of this new world, but the fear was not hidden. I fought in my mind but decided it was the right time. She showed me her special place, now I'll show her mine.
~Midnight's POV~
He squeezed my hand back and gave me a "follow me" grin. He pulled me along, linked together by our fingers. I dare not question him further of where we were going, I could just tell it was a surprise and it was special. We gently weaved between the trees and vines. Every now and then he would glance back with those eyes to make sure I was okay, and of course I was, aslong as I was with him, I am fine.
He stopped, and grabbed me. He hugged me so tightly, like he was afraid I was going to run.
He whispered in my ear, "Its my turn, my turn to open up."
I blinked and he parted a thick blanket of vines, and to my surprise, I saw a waterfall, and a small pond.
I could smell the peace...if you can smell peace.
He pulled me towards the water and we sat down.
~Dagger's POV~
As we sat, I tilted he face towards me.
"It's my turn to tell my story"
She looked at me as if I was going to tell her that I secretly was Hitler or something.
I ignored her look and figured she change her expression as I told my story, "This is the last place I spent a happy time with her. The last time I saw her smile."
She squeezed my hand, "Who?"
I sniffled, I hadn't talked about this to anybody. I tried so hard to forget it, to leave it in my past. "She was my sister." I looked down, I felt the tear roll down my cheek and as I opened my mouth, I could taste the saltiness. I felt a soft hand land on my cheek, and I followed it. Midnight was looking at me, our eyes met and she stroked my cheek. "You don't have to go on if it's too hard."
I shoke my head, "No, this is something I need to talk about. And I want to talk about it with you."
Midnight just nodded and let me continue.
"We were very close, my sister and I, we did everything together. She was the only family I had. Her name was Isobel. She was older than me by 2 years, she was my sister, my mother and my best friend. She took care of me. We changed together, we were special aswell. We are called Dormants. We are born with the vampire gene, but it doesn't show untill we turn 13. She turned before I did, and although she wasn't suppose to, she told me. She told me all about this place, about how it makes you feel alive. I couldn't wait to turn. And when I did, she was there. It's very painful turning like that. Its not just cold fire in your veins, it feels like every bone becomes made out of concrete and your teeth are going to pop out. She kept me company during this time. When I turned, the first thing she did was bring me to this spot and we swam. I began to crave. I became hungry, and she took me to my first feeding. It was my first hunting experience, she showed me the ropes. Soon she began to be troubled by monsters, they would follow us through the woods. We came here and swam and joked and laughed. She grabbed my hand and smiled at me and said 'Brother, I will be here, forever, for you. I love you brother. If your ever lost, you can always find me here'. One day, I came to meet her here. I waited and waited. I heard a piercing scream and I fled to the sight. I got there just in time to see them tear my sister's heart from her chest. I was devastated. I killed the monsters. I killed everyone of them. I took my sister and I held her. I dug her a grave. A grave that's long over grown. I wasn't worried about the grave because I know, she's always here." I took a deep breathe. That may have been the hardest thing I've ever done, but I felt like the world had been taken off my shoulders. I looked up and Midnight seemed like she was going to cry.
~Midnight's POV~
I was stunned by the fact that he had just poured his guts out to me. I grabbed him and held him tight. I held him and I could here his sniffle's, he was trying to hard not to cry. I wish he would I wouldn't love him any less. He lifted his head, and looked at me. He leaned over the gapping expanse between us and kissed me. He kissed me in a way that was different. Good different. Now we had the biggest secrets out of the way. We continued to kiss and when we broke apart, he looked at me with those eyes glistening from the tears, and we interlocked our fingers, and breathed in deep.
"I love you."
