-Midnight's POV-
I can only wish that we were there. The only thing that was keeping me motivated was the fact that he was dragging me on. All the things that were around us, that were terrible. Monsters of all different kinds just walking the paths, pulling me in different directions, trying to hurt me. But Dagger would never let that happen to me, so I felt fine, mostly.
"Your doing good so far, most people that would walk the paths, would have tucked tail and ran. This next part of the trail is the most dangerous, I want you holding my arm, and looking at the ground."
I knew better than to question, so I grabbed on to his arm. Holding just his arm was nice, I could feel the tingle of electricity, but it reminded me that I'm still helpless and new to this world.
The dirt passed by me with every step. Unlike the human world, this place wasn't dirty, and run down and ruined, it was nice and calm and peaceful. Even the dirt seemed clean. Everything here was special, but when everything is special...nothing is special.
I heard the cackle first, high pitched and shrill. It hurt my ears.
"Okay, this is the scary part, like I said, keep your eyes down and don't talk to anybody but me. Hold tightly on my arm, and resist everything." He whispered in my hair.
It was nice knowing that somebody wanted to keep me safe.
I heard the lady voice in my ear, quite as if telling me a secret, but demanding. A sweet charm in my ear. "Sweetie, would you look at me please?"
It took every bit of my being not to look at her, I stumbled along.
"Enough Tempter, she will not be yours." I could barely hear Dagger even though he was right next to me, I was lost in the desire to bide her.
"Just look at me, he isn't helping you, he is going to hurt you, I want to help you." She said, her voice like sugar in my ears.
I couldn't resist, and I turned to her, and I looked into her eyes. She was pretty, she had fair skin and black hair that flowed around her purple silk dress, and her eyes were the purest yellow, like the sun.
"See, isn't that better, I'm not bad."
Although she looked good, I could tell she was rotten to the core.
-Dagger's POV-
"No, Midnight, don't look at her!" It was already to late, Midnight was lost to the Tempter, nobody can break her hold once looking into her, Midnight was lost to me. And I won't be able to get her back.
-Midnight's POV-
I had a feeling in my gut like I should be doing what she told me to do, that I was there to be her servant, but I just couldn't, and frankly, it made me mad that she thought she could use me so easily. It made me furious, it made me want her to drown. I know that I shouldn't do this but I raised my hand, and thought, as my skin caressed the air, I thought of water poring over her, and only her, of winds so strong that they would blow her away.
The sound of water in the distance brought me to attention that I was using my powers, the powers I was meant to have, and always had.
First the water swirled around her, it didn't just flow over the ground and sweep her away, I rose it into a cacoon around her, and made it swallow her whole. I could hear he scream.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! NOBODY CAN RESIST ME AFTER LOOKING INTO MY EYES!"
The water tightened around her, and then I focused on freezing it. The wind came and blew the cold air, I couldn't feel it as a person, but as an Elemental, I could feel it in my fingers as I drew my energy into it. I put myself into the elements, and I froze the swirling typhoon around her.
"Stop! You got her!"
I could feel Dagger entering my mind again, and grabbing hold of me. He broke me away from the trance I was in. And I was happy. I had lost myself, and I was doing a bad thing.
I broke down in sobs and collapsed to the ground. I had almost killed her, I can't believe what I did.
"I..I'm sorry." I said through sobs.
Dagger knelt down and held me, enveloping me in his arms and his sweet smell.
"Its fine, everything will be fine. I promise." he whispered.
And I knew just then that everything would be fine, because there was nobody in this would that I loved and trusted more than him.
