Tammy knew she had to play it cool. She couldn't go too overboard with her look. She'd assured Levi last night that she didn't have a crush on Bruno. Even though she'd realised that yeah... she actually did. As Levi showered, she sneakily chugged what she thought to be more or less a few shots of rum to calm her nerves.
It didn't work.
They arrived at the address Cherry had texted them just after 2:00. It was a stunning terrace house with a navy blue door. It was very well kept, with a variety of beautiful pot plants at the front. The club opened at 5:00pm, so there was plenty of time for drinks and chilling out before what was sure to be another big night.
Cora opened the door, welcoming them. "Hey! Come on in!"
Inside was even more beautiful. It was an old place, but it had this beautifully unique charm to it which made it seem really comfortable to live in. The walls were painted white, but there was so much colour everywhere. Tammy was almost certain that that would have to be Cora's doing. A bright red couch. A pink, green, yellow and purple woven ottoman. Huge, splashy paintings on the walls. And despite the clashing of vibrant colours, there was a cohesiveness to it that Tammy found unbelievably appealing. The more she looked around the space, the more she liked it.
James and Cherry were already there, and so was the young guy who washed the glassware whose name she kept forgetting. Harry . Harry was his bloody name.
"Your place is amazing !" she said. "Did you decorate it?"
Cora grinned at her, clearly still a little unsure of whether Tammy liked her or not.
Cherry nudged Cora. "How'd you guess?"
Levi laughed loudly at Cherry's joke. Cora handed them a cold beer each.Tammy looked around, trying her best to seem casual, but couldn't see Bruno anywhere.
As if reading her mind, Cora smiled at her. "Bruno's just gone to get more beer."
"Oh, I, uh... cool."
She looked over at Levi to see if he'd noticed, but he was already too busy chatting quietly with Cherry. They seemed to get along well. Tammy was a little relieved.
A little while later, Tammy's heart skipped a beat when she heard the front door open. She turned her head to watch him walking in. He smiled at Cora, and had a case of beer resting on his shoulder. But she watched his eyes dart around the room. As soon as he spotted her, he looked momentarily confused, but then his face lit up like he'd just been drenched in sunshine.
"Hey! I didn't know you were com... oh! Hey, Levi, how's it going? How are you guys?"
Was he... disappointed that Levi's here?
He unpacked the fresh beer into the fridge, grabbed an already cold one, and settled in on the couch next to Cora. The group chatted happily, but Tammy couldn't help but feel a little shy. She wanted nothing more than to just bring up that photo of Bruno again. Look at him in his pants. She wished she could see the real thing.
After a little while, Tammy was a few more drinks in than she probably should have been before work. Mixing with her rum from before, she felt... a little woozy. She shook her head, deciding instead that she needed to pee. She leaned over to Cora.
"Bathroom?"
Cora nodded. "Upstairs, end of the hall on the right."
She nodded, making her way up. She passed a few doors, wondering which one led to Bruno's room. She wished she had the courage to peek in them. But she didn't.
After she'd done what she needed to do, she washed her hands, drying them on the hand towel provided. She cleaned a little mascara from under her eyes, and opened the door, only to find Bruno standing there waiting for her.
