Tammy awoke hours later, hearing her phone go off.
She woke up, a text on her phone from Levi.
"Make sure ur home soon cause otherwise it will be dark and I will have to come and get u."
She groaned, feeling not too far away from an actual migraine.
But the feeling of her pounding headache was replaced by the immediate memory of coming on to Bruno.
Fuckkkkkkkkkkk.
She remembered every single word of the conversation. He liked her, too. But he'd turned her down. Because he was her boss. And because of Levi. And because of her dad.
She was mortified .
She'd literally confessed to liking him. Holy fucking shit.
Tammy swung her legs out of the bed, collecting her boots and making her way to the door.
As she stepped into the hallway, she saw another door halfway between Cora's room and the bathroom.
That had to be it . His room.
"Hello?" she called out.
No one was home.
She crept down the hallway toward the door, and turned the handle.
As she opened it, she was hit with a soft, masculine smell that she recognised as his cologne. He must have sprayed it just before he left. The whole room smelled like him. She peeked around, somewhat surprised at how tidy it was. He hadn't struck her as the tidy type. But, she supposed he was rarely there, working long hours more days than not. She closed the door, creeping back down the stairs. She picked up her handbag from beside the door, pulled her boots on, and stepped out onto the street, locking the door via the latch and pulling it closed behind her.
**********
Tammy stepped in the door at home just as the sun was setting, calling out to Levi.
"Levi? You here?"
He got up from the floor, clearing having just been doing situps, coming over to give her a hug. "Hey hun! How you feeling?"
"Good. I'm okay. Just need a shower."
"Without me?" He shot her a look.
She rolled her eyes at him.
"Fuckboy"
He smirked at her. Mostly, she wanted a bit of time to be alone.
Her shower turned into a bath, and she found herself once again scrolling through Bruno's instagram, lingering far too long on the same photo she'd found the night before. She spent longer on it this time, looking more closely at his tattoos.
The sleeves featured beautifully intricate flowers. Poppies, maybe? And beautiful, large script writing in a language she didn't know. On one arm, jakoś to będzie. On the other czas leczy rany . She opened google translate, slowly typing in one letter at a time. It instantly came up as Polish.
Jakoś to będzie - things will work out in the end
Czas leczy rany - time heals all wounds
She knew there would be more to it than that. She spent some time reading about Polish phrases and expressions, as well as other elements of his tattoos. It made her feel like she knew something about him.
