Bruno went back downstairs, getting a concerned look from everyone.
"Did you see Tammy up there? She's been gone for a while." Levi asked.
"Yeah, she's not feeling great. I think she's got a migraine. I put her in your room, Cora, to sleep it off a bit. She's alright."
"Oh, poor thing, migraines are the worst." Cherry cooed.
Levi jumped up. "Which room is it? I'll go check on her."
I just fuckin' said she's alright , but sure. Go check on her.
"Upstairs, first door on the right." he said. "Rest of us should probably get going soon" Everyone nodded. "I might head over now then, start opening up."
"Do you need a hand? If Tammy's going to be off?" Cora smiled
Bruno laughed. "You know I've never said no to extra hands, babe."
Cherry laughed. "Well, if you're going to be hanging out there, I may as well come help, too."
Bruno went over to them, holding his arms out and bringing them both in for a cuddle at once. Both girls were petite, so he could fully wrap around them while they giggled.
"You guys are the best. You know that? I actually love our little throuple here."
"Throuple?!" Cherry laughed. "And here I was thinking you were just our third wheel!"
Everyone laughed. He ruffled her hair a little, making her squeal in annoyance.
"See y'all over there!" he called, stepping out into the street.
As soon as he stepped onto the street, he took a deep breath of fresh air, and let his smile fall and the freakout begin. He just tried to concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other.
Fuck.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
Bruno ran his hands through his hair.
Why the fuck did I admit I liked her?
He knew he did, but he couldn't. He pushed it down. Tammy would go home, and then they both had Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off, because Racers was closed. They wouldn't see each other for a few days, and it would be fine. She'd sober up, have a few days to think about it, and then they'd go back to work like nothing was wrong. It would be fine. She might not even remember coming on to him.
But he would remember.
He'd figured it out the night before. Standing on the stage, he could barely see anyone through the bright lights. But he could see her. He could always see her. Standing at the bar, watching him with a giant smile on her face. Smiling at him .
She'd laughed . She was laughing at his jokes.
And later that night... in the fridge... he'd been so tempted to kiss her. He wanted to so badly . He was so desperate to know how her lips tasted. He wasn't sure exactly what had flipped, but it was almost like seeing her laugh had made it impossible for him to take his eyes off her.
And later, when that stupid lad had smacked her ass... he'd been absolutely blind with anger. He didn't even remember hopping the bar until he was already about a millisecond away from beating the shit out of the guy.
He kicked people out regularly for being rude to the staff, especially when it was Cora or Cherry... but he'd never done that before. Something in him filled him with rage when he'd touched Tammy.
