Chapter 15: First classes

Lily and Sirius had charms together first and were having a conversation whilst doing work.

Lily's POV
I was just finishing writing my notes on what Professor Flitwick was telling us the spell Expecto Protronum when all of a sudden Sirius turned to me and said something...
"You love him, don't you?" He asked me as if he was concerned and a bit worried.
"Hm? What you say?" I said trying to play it off as me not paying attention so I can make sure I heard him right and I'm not going crazy. He looked away and then he looked back at me right in my eyes locking his with mine. He readjusted himself then said more confidently "You love James, don't you?" I could tell he was being serious now not joking around like how he usually does. He was genuinely concerned for him.
"I don't know, if I'm honest" I said looking him straight in the eye, "but hey, I might as well give the guy a shot, it wouldn't hurt." "What if it doesn't work out? James will be devastated" he worried, "do you really think I haven't thought of that?" I asked him genuinely "the amount of times I have thought about backing out from this whole thing, I don't want things to change but I'm only doing this because everyone has talked me into it and I really like him Sirius, I don't think I've felt this way about anyone before, I might as well try, see how things go" I said truthfully.

I really do like him and I really haven't felt this way about anyone before I really think he is a nice guy he's always stood up for me always been nice to me even though I treated the guy like utter crap. For a long time I thought that he was only doing to get inside my head, or to make Severus jealous, or because I was the only girl who didn't like him romantically or just at all but now I think he really is a nice guy and extremely loyal to his friends and family.

"Lily" He said after a minute of silence between us, "please don't hurt my friend, he is like a brother to me I couldn't bare to see him get hurt." For the first time I could see the sensitive side of Sirius Black, a side I didn't know existed but that was probably because of the nasty gremlin things he used to call... his parents, but now? He doesn't speak of them, none of us does and we don't care at all for them. "That's the last thing I want to do, trust me, and Sirius?" I said with him humming in response to his name, "if I do ever hurt James, it will never be on purpose. It will either be that something didn't work out or something is wrong, but I promise you if that time comes and hopefully it never will but if it does, you will know the reason." I said reassuring him. He pulled me into a hug and we continued to work.

Meanwhile, whilst Sirius and Lily were in charms together Mary and a certain James Potter we're in defence against the dark arts having a chat quietly near the back of the classroom.

James' POV
I was just finishing some notes the whole class had to take down when I heard Mary whisper to me. "Pssst" I heard her say again "James!" She whispered as loud as she can without having someone else hear us. "What?" I asked. "I'm bored" she whined "then take notes" I whispered back to her. "I have" she whined again. "Well then I can't help you" I said just finished my second last sentence. "Why do you care about taking notes all of a sudden?" She whispered, "I want to get good grades and scores after all it is our last year" I whispered hoping I sounded convincing enough. "Since when did you— ohhhhhh... you want to impress Lily whilst making Mcgonagall and your parents proud, don't we Mr Potter?" she whispered again now teasing me. "Yes.. I mean no.. I— oh shut up Mary, you can't tell anyone especially NOT lils, do you understand me" I whispered to her making sure I made the not bit clear, "fine, fine as you wish" she sighed.

There was another moment of silence, everyone broke into conversations with another and we were free to talk as the teacher took another student to the hospital wing.
"So" Mary stated "Got any plans yet for your first official date with Lils?" "I have indeed" I happily said with a smile looking at my friend. "Well? What are they then?" She asked, "I cannot tell you" I said looking at her. "Why not I won't tell her, I might her the basic gist of it like where your going and what to wear but other than that nothing, my lips will be sealed." "Fine. I suppose it would be fun to share without being called weird by the guys" I sighed. "Yay!" She squealed and clapped her hands excitedly.

"We're going to go to hogsmeade to some shops which I will pay for obviously" I said, she nodded and hummed signalling for me to continue. "Then I'll take her for a butter bear in the three broomsticks, then I'm going to take her to the fair or festival thingy that is going to be hosted, I will charm her, win her over and she'll have to go on another date with me" I said more smugly that I meant. She just looked at me. "You've had that planned for a while, haven't you?" She asked, "oh yeah, for years" I said still with a smile on my face. "That's a bit sad not gonna lie" she sighed. "Oh I know, but I don't care" I said. "When will it be? I know Lily's going to be free this Saturday and that is one of the days for a festival" I added helpfully, "Then it's settled, everything is planned out" I said and nodded my head with a sigh of relief.
