Jaw clenched, Mina took a meditative breath. She had to access the highway of choices intersecting within her mind. But there was only fragments of time for the sharpest actions. Take what you can and run with it. Nothing else mattered but keeping the womb, and Caine, safe from this psycho.
"Hey you, get your hands off of him! It's me you want."
The figure laughed at her with a patronizing air. In a blur of an instant, they shoved a blood soaked Caine into the nearby stirrup table with a clang. Mina winced as his strong build flipped over the structure and he was out cold.
Mina eyes turned to slits.
"Well isn't he cute? Such an artist with an ego like that. Not much help, though" The cloaked figure took one step in her direction, "Now about this goop. Be a good girl and hand it over, gorg. Would hate to ruin that beautiful suit, or your face for that matter." The intruder took another step closer, the squeak of their boot sounded more like a warning.
Who is this cosplay freak and why do they want our goo?
"Hm. First you beat up my husband, and then expect me to just hand over my goo?" Mina taunted. "Who the hell raised you?"
Letting them take another step, Mina slipped the goo vial into the heartside of her bra. There was only a fraction of a second before this infiltrator would pounce, and Mina knew she had to time things just right.
The perforated floor massaged her back as she attempted to roll under the infiltrator's left side. A sweep of air overhead surprised her.
They had jumped clean over her.
Stay one move ahead, you've got this bitch. It's just like sparring with Artemis.
Before they could land on their feet, Mina targeted the flash of silver in their hand. Her calculations rewarded her, and a well timed kick sent the caricature of a buck knife clattering to the opposite end of the room. The infiltrator almost seemed surprised but before Mina could celebrate, she felt the cannonball force of a boot to her gut.
More rushes of air, her ears fuzzed with shock. Mina felt her body could have kept flying through space and time if it hadn't been for the shatter proof glass wall behind her. Her body crumpled to the floor in a heap, and the phantom of the blow to her gut left Mina gasping frantically. A fish out of water. A chill from the cool glass against her back keeps her alert. Just barely. She had only a second to be grateful that she hadn't been thrown into the industrial shelf beside her, as it housed many of their sharpest and intimidating tools.
The red, billowing cloak hovered closer to where she lay. Each step was a sonic boom, the vibration of their steps signaled to Mina that her time was running out.
"Nice moves, I mean, for an amateur. But let's get one thing straight. In the end, White Wing always uses the knife." Mina mustered the last of her strength to look up at the hooded menace. They had gotten the knife back. As they licked the tip of the blade, Mina stared back at the glittering of violet eyes shining from under the hood. They were full of bloodlust, as if the grim reaper himself stared down upon her. And yet, They almost looked familiar...
"Really too bad we couldn't just be gal pals." They raised the knife with a studied precision, preparing to strike.
Another woosh of air. A long streak of tapered silver slashed deep into flesh, and soon howls of pain bounced through the corridor. Fresh blood was splattered along the walls. It was over.
