Meera's pov:

The next morning I woke up and my immediate thought wasn't about skipping school or worrying about pointless people. I was fairly happy for a Tuesday morning. The first time I woke up feeling good in a while.

I'm still sitting in my bed but my eyes are trailing over my room. The two books Wes gave me, catching my eye. A smile etched itself on my face.

I hadn't looked over the Pride and Prejudice book yet because I had already read it. To be honest, I just wanted to know what he wrote in the book.

I took the first book he gave me to school and started reading that in my down time.

After the bell rang, Wes and I walked to the gym together. Today was the first official meeting for our schools soccer team. They were making a varsity Coed team.

The committee decided to go through with creating it and it would take a few more weeks. Everyone on the girls and boys varsity could go and try out.

Rowan was waiting for us in the cafeteria, tennis must've ended early, I thought.

"How was tennis?" I asked, grabbing his lunchbox for him.

"Good. How was the meeting? What did they decide?" He asked in return.

I smiled, "Yeah, they decided to make a team! Wes really helped with his closing argument." I turned to Wes, looking for his approval.

My phone buzzed a few seconds later, the caller id was my mother.

"Su chē?" (What's up)

"Kaine, su kare?" (Nothing, what are you doing?"

"School mā chē." I giggled a little. (I'm at school.)

"Okay,"

"Kaam chē?" (Do you need me?)

"Nā. I'm hanging up now." (No."

"Bye mom," I said before she hung up.

"What did your mom say?" Rowan asked, slinging an arm over my shoulder.

"She was just asking where I was." I say, getting into the backseat of Rowan's car. He drove us all to school today.

"Can I drive?" Wes asked.

Rowan paused but then threw the keys at Wes. "Don't wreck my car." He added before getting into the passenger seat.

My seat was behind the drivers seat, so when Wes adjusted his seat I leaned back a little.

I was on my phone and looked up to see why we hadn't moved yet and I saw Wes adjusting the rear view mirror so my whole upper face was in it.

I raise a brow but his eyes tell me to dismiss it and leave it be. Smiling to myself, I looked out the window for the rest of the ride home. I thanked them both and got off near my driveway, watching them pull into theirs. Rowan ran into the backyard to go see their dog while Wes waited for me to entire my house before going into his garage.

The rest of the week went a little slower than I wanted it to, that's expected because the week leading up to spring break is always torturously slow.

The time between Thanksgiving and winter break is academic hell, the three months after winter break is the depression era and then after spring break it's basically living hell.

"Hi dada!" I call, waiting for his reply. Whenever I come back from school or going out, he always comes out and says hi and asks how my day was or if I had eaten.

"Hello!" He boomed, waking out with his nasal cannulae pipe trailing behind him. He had been diagnosed with lungs fibrosis five years ago but last year it got super bad. He was now permanently on oxygen therapy hence the loud whirring of the machine every waking moment and the long trails of pipe around the house.
