Wes's pov:
"Meera you cant drop a bomb like that on me and expect me to reply with my thoughts right after. It took me a moment to process the fact that your own friend pulled that kind of shit with you." I blurted when I went to her house right after school.
"Wanna know the worst part?" She said bemusedly. "She didn't even ask what I thought, she didn't give a shit about the fact that we went on a date and he gave me his hoodie, she completely disregarded my feelings and fucking double crossed the line."
I saw fire in her eyes. The last time she was moping over a guy, it wasn't this bad. This was fucked up. How the hell could her own friend do this to her? What kind of friend is that.
"Call them out for their shit. Ruin their relationship. Make everyone hate them." I listed, my mind not controlling my mouth. "People like you more than they like the two of them combined. People are making fun of them because they're basically a joke. They didn't even have a talking stage and just started making out."
"I want to do that so badly. I just don't want to be the relationship wrecker. If people start hating me because of them, I don't want it. They're not worth that much." She mumbled, picking at her nails. "Him liking her doesn't hurt me that much, her disregarding me and our friendship for him does. Honestly I should've seen this shit coming since February when he begged for her number from me. What the hell was I thinking anyways.? God I wasn't even fucking thinking anymore, who the hell would want me when she's there." She rambled on saying all the things she thought.
"Stop. Don't fucking say that. Guys would be lucky to even have you in their life as a friend."
I gave her a whole lecture on how they suck and how she could fuck their entire high school experience up. I don't stand for this kind of bullshit no matter who the person is. Meera's important to my family therefore she's important to me and seeing her upset makes my mom upset. I cannot bear to see her like that.

She walks into AP chem that morning and takes her usual seat next to me. "I have a surprise you for." I say half cheerily, pulling out a copy of "A Court of Thorns and Roses.".
Meera let out a small gasp, before running her hand over the cover. She gingerly opened the book and breathed in the scent of fresh ink and paper. "That's for you to keep. It was a good read." I added. "Also I left a thing of tabs for you. I know you like tabbing."
She gaped. "Since when did you-"
"Since always." I tutted. "Now read the book and let me know what you think. I left my goodreads on there too."
I could see the smile forming on her face. She could use some happiness, said Rowan last night. That made me think and I spontaneously did this for her. My mind and body were doing two different things.
The rest of the day goes by in a blur. It was a Friday and an A day. French was easy and effortless for the first time in a while and practice was fun. Meera and I partnered up today since Cassidy wasn't here.
I paid a lot of attention to her passes and defense today, a lot more than I used to anyways. Every time I was headed back down to play midfield instead of forward, I'd steal a few glances here and there.
Her baby hairs were flying with the wind, a flush taking over her cheeks as she ran and booted the ball halfway across the field.
What the hell am I doing?
I shook my head and focused on Lucas who was tearing down the field with the ball. We scored. We also won that scrimmage.
The other team took loads of shots at our goal but our defense was fucking elite and our goalie was goat. Luke was fucking amazing at goalie. Meera and Allison were our top defenders. Our starting forwards were Me, Ethan, And Lucas and our mid fielders were Casey, Seth and Dalton.
Our team was easily the best amongst the company in this area. We have around twenty players and all of us are on varsity for whatever high school we attend and full time travel soccer too.
We had a huge game this Saturday that was a key factor in helping us get to states. Coach had also commissioned longer practices and more hours in the gym. We needed all the upper hands we could get, no matter how good we are.
