James' text just popped into my phone. A smile lodges itself onto my mouth as I discreetly unlock my phone and open the text.
"D'accord, les étudiants, c'est tout pour aujourd'hui!" Madame Moore chirped, heading back to her desk.
I pulled my phone out from under my desk and looked at the text properly.
James: wanna go see morbius with me?
Woah-
Hold up, is this a date or something casual?
Meera: is this your way of asking me out?
James: heh heh
Meera: boy is that a yes or no
James: it's a yes
James: now will you go with me or should I jus go with Emerson and Miles
Meera: yes I'll go but wait why are Emerson and Miles going together?
Meera: I didn't know that they knew each other
James: they don't but they wanna watch too
James: they won't be with us the whole time tho, they'll sit separately
Meera: oh okayy"Y'all?" I called, looking up from my phone. "He just asked me out-"
"Wait what?" Lyvia questioned.
"Oh my fucking god girl-" Ja'Nyia gasped, covering her mouth. "Is this the guy who memorized your shoes of the week?"
"Yeah-" I breathed. Okay let's calm down.
"Go get em sis," Lyvia purred.
"What's going on?" A voice reverberated from behind me. Feeling him quite literally breathing down my neck I shut my phone and held it flushed against my chest.
"Fuck off Wes,"
"Classy as always, Meera." He tutted, coming around to face me.
"So," he started saying, while looking around. "What's going on?"
"None of your business." I snapped, before any of the other two could open their mouths.
He shot a smile at me. "I'll figure it out one day, I always do. Besides I have seven out of eight classes with you, it shouldn't take that long."
"Good luck trying," I sang, packing my bag up.
"Do you need a ride today?" Wes asked as I was getting up to go to the door.
"Yes please Satan," I sighed in relief.
"You're welcome smartass," The bell rang and we both have walked up the ramp to the cafeteria where the main entrance and exiting doors to the school were.
Getting into his car, I breathed in the scent of Dior Sauvage and Creed.
His car always smells the best.
"Mom was asking how your state championship went," Wes started.
"They were really good, second year of girls basketball here at Riverview winning state champs! I think the banner comes in next week for the gym." I chirped as he shot a text off to his mom.
He backed out of the parking spot and took a left so we could exit the school parking lot. I opened my texts with Bree.
Meera: BREE

Meera: good luck and haveI shut my phone and messed with Wes's audio system. I connected my phone and started playing Taylor's "22".
I turned the volume up. Wes sighed and turned it down. I turned it right back up, a notch higher even. He then turned it down. I let out a frustrated sigh and turned it up all the way. Wes muted the whole thing, the moment my hand moved. I extended my hand to turn it back on before he grabbed it midair. "Don't."
"Why not?"
"Because I said so,"
"Because I said so," I mimicked. "Let me turn it on, it's Tay-Tay. C'mon now," I protested, trying to wrestle my wrist out of his grip.
"Tay-Tay, gives me a headache." He muttered, enunciating all the words. "Besides sweetheart, this is my car, not yours."
"Well Tay-Tay," I yanked my wrist out his steel like fingers. "Should be blasted every time she comes on." With that I unmute the audio system. Wes doesn't dare mess with the button but I know he secretly turned the music down a few notches with the steering wheel controls.
He mumbled something under his breath and took a right turn into Barnes & Nobles parking lot. We both worked there occasionally since our parents knew the owners. They'd given us extremely flexible hours so we could focus on school and sports while also learn the importance of having a job.
Today was a busy day for the both of us. Wes and I both work until five and then at five-thirty we have soccer practice till seven.
I mentally prepared a checklist of any assignments and other things I have to do before tomorrow.
French homework.
Ap us history handout.
Hospital volunteer application.
And some stupid English essay. That doesn't seem that bad.
We both walked into B&N, him going to the left and me going to the right.
