Meera's Pov:
The month of May was coming to an end and prom was coming weekend. I still didn't have a date.
Knowing Wes, he probably would never ask me anyways because prom is beyond him so I shouldn't really expect anything but like I still felt a twinge of hurt.
Yesterday, there was a huge promposal in the cafeteria and Wes just stared at it the whole time. During my free block, I made a small sign for Wes and decided to ask him instead of waiting around for him to ask me.
When the dismissal bell rang, Wes and I walked to the front of the school together but split up near the locker rooms, he had to grab his soccer bag and I ran to the car to set up for the proposal.
A friend of mine had picked up flowers and candy and dropped them off for me.
I threw my stuff into the car and pulled out the flowers and my sign. I could see Wes's figure in the distance, exiting the school.
As he got closer, I could see him squinting his eyes at me, trying to get a better look.
"Prom?" I weakly asked holding the sign up.
"I would love to," he said pushing the sign and flowers away, pulling me into a hug. "But why did you ask me? Shouldn't I have asked you?"
"I didn't think you were going to ask me to prom, we would've probably just went." I shrugged.
"Oh,"
"I have candy in the car," I suddenly remember. "C'mon."

When we got home from school, I went into my house to drop my things off and Wes went into his. After doing all our work and catching up on other things, we met up outside our houses around 6ish to go on our daily walks.
"I'm bored." I sighed, looping my arm with his arm.
"What do I do about that?" Wes hummed, pulling me closer.
I rolled my eyes and walked faster. "Hurry up."
"What's the rush Meera?"
"I wanna catch the sunset from the water."I explained, "It's really pretty down there."
The sky looked gorgeous near the water, the clearing had a perfect view of the sunset.
We sat down at the bank of the water and leaned back, looking up.
"Be with me." Wes says out of nowhere.
"I'm sorry what?" I turn my head to face him, propping myself on my elbow.
"Be with me. No more bullshit or misdefined labels." He holds my face in his hands. "You and me together. Officially."
I leaned up and kissed him, pushing him onto his back and I climbed over him, not breaking the kiss.
After a few seconds he pushes me back, a look of puzzlement filling his face. "Is that a yes?"
"Yes," I breathed. "God you're a dumbass." I muttered, kissing him again.
"But I'm your dumbass, lyubov." He tutted, flipping me on to the bottom.
"True." He held his hand below my head so it wasn't touching the grass. I weaved a hand in his hair and leaned up to hug him.
We both sat up and his arms wrapped around me completely, as I hugged him tighter.

I yawned as the morning announcements started playing in our school. I barely got any sleep last night due to a FaceTime with Wes that ran a little too late. But it was my fault because he was tutoring me.
Cassidy had her phone set up as if she was about to make a tiktok, which was unusual because she hates filming herself.
I brushed it off and tried to lay my head down for a few seconds of shut eye.
"Riverview bears, we just have one more special announcement for the day. The mic is all yours buddy!" The MC said.
"Hello everyone." My head immediately perks up. What the hell is Wes doing on the announcements? "Most of you can ignore this announcement as there is only one person in this whole school who actually needs to hear this."
I look around and people are starting to film.
"Meera Desai, are you listening?" A pause takes over and people behind me start whispering. "Of course you are, I dropped you to class myself."
I hear a few giggles behind me and my ears turn red.
"Now I know I'm no catch, but it's my goal to go to prom with you." I gasp and my hand flies to my mouth.
"Get it, because we both play soccer?" I half laugh and half sob at his attempt at a pun.
"If your teacher allows, will you step out into the hallway, Meera?" I immediately turn to my teacher who nods her head. I get up and walk towards the door.
Wes stood outside in the hallway with a huge poster, flowers and a basket full of stuff.
A grin cut through his face as I ran into his arms, his friend took the flowers from him and he dropped the sign, hoisting me up a few inches and spinning us around.
"This is fucking amazing." I whispered, sliding down him.
"It's the least I could do." He smiled at me. "So Meera," he held my hand, along with the flowers. "Will you go to prom with me?"
"Say yes!" I heard from all around us.
People had poured into the hallway and majority of the hall was full.
"Yes, I would love to go to prom with you." I smiled. Wes leaned down and kissed me, pulling me closer to him.
I heard a bunch of screaming and yelling. We pulled apart because of teachers saw, they'd probably write us up for PDA.
Everyone took pictures and by the time I checked my phone, it was blowing up with people mentioning Wes and I in their stories. A bunch of my friends texted pictures they took of us and videos.
I bit down on my lip and turned my phone off, trying not to grin like an idiot.
Wes threw an arm around my shoulder and we both walked into calc together.
