Wes's pov:
I walked into AP Chem earlier than I'd like for a Friday morning, normally the teacher gives us five extra minutes on Friday but I didn't feel like using them. Nor did Meera since she was sitting silently in her seat.
Her body was present in the room but her mind was somewhere else. I could feel it.
Sage and Bree come into the room and head straight for Meera and Jolie's desk.
"Hey, you haven't been answering your texts. Is something wrong?" Sage asked quietly.
"Um," Meera's voice sounded really shaking. She whispered a few more things that I could not hear before she broke down.
Fuck.
Jolie and Sage were hugging her and calming her down while Bree looked around for tissues.
I pulled out a pack of Kleenex and signaled at Bree. "Yo?" I threw the pack when she saw and she caught it.
"Why are you here?" Jolie asked. "Do you wanna go home? I wouldn't wanna be here right now if i was going through that." She trailed off.
"My mom thought it would be a good distraction," Meera wiped her face. "It's not working."
The warning bell rung, so Bree and Sage gave her one last hug and left hesitantly. Jolie was still patting her arm. She got up and I stopped looking at her.
The pack of tissues I threw to Bree were on my desk, Meera standing as well.
"Thank you." She said quietly before going back to her seat.
Cassidy walks in late and sits next to Meera with Jolie.
What's going on?
Something's wrong, but what?
It can't be about Dada....
No way.
The rest of AP Chem went by quick, mostly AP exam prep.
I go to anatomy and I see Christian talking to Meera at her desk. He goes back to his desk when the teacher says to leave and Meera goes to the back of the classroom near the tissue box.
When I catch her eyes, they're extremely puffy and red. We hold that eye contact for a good five seconds and concern floats in my eyes but she doesn't seem to notice that.
I can see her crying throughout the whole lesson. It kills me not knowing why she's crying.
In AP Lit she talks to the English teacher and then disappeared for a while.
"Um, do you guys know where Meera is?" I asked Bree and Layla hesitantly. "I need to give her something."
"You don't know?" Bree says immediately. "She's in counseling with Cassidy and I think you too should go. You guys are close and you're probably going through it too."
"Okay, thanks." I talk to the teacher and bolt out of there. My thoughts are roaming and reaching, so much is going through my head, it's hard to think.
I find myself contemplating outside the counselors office. I can see Cassidy's blonde hair next to Meera and half the worry melts away. Knowing cassidy is there for her makes me feel better because those two are the closest friends I know and they have each other's backs whenever, wherever.
Cassidy walks out soon and jumps when she sees me. "What do you want?" She demanded, glaring me down.
"I just want to make sure she's okay," I say, moving closer. "Cass, please. I just need to know if she's okay, please."
