Rosie pov

*A week later*

It was Sunday again which meant that Killian was coming for his treatments again. I'm so excited to see him! The whole week I couldn't stop thinking about him. I think I had a crush on him. I mean, he's amazing! I really liked him but I also didn't want what happened with Zane to happen again. I got ready and went to the kitchen where my mom was.

Rosie - "Morning, Mom!"

Anna - "Good morning honey! I made pancakes for breakfast"

Rosie - "Smells delicious"

I sat down on the barstool behind the counter and my mom put the plate of pancakes in front of me, and we talked while I finished my food.

Anna - "So, I have some good news"

Rosie - "Oh yeah?"

Anna - "I got an assistant manager position at a law firm nearby"

Rosie - "That's great, Mom!"

We talked for a little bit before I left for work. I got there just in time for my shift. It felt like forever for time to pass because I was waiting very impatiently to see Killian. We've been texting every night this week. Since we both had some stuff to do, we decided on a time every night when we were both free so that neither of us had to wait for the other. Finally, it was noon and Killian came into the room and sat down in the chair for his treatments.

Killian - "And so we meet again"

Rosie - (giggles) "And so we do"

Oh my god, was he gorgeous or what? He had such pretty ocean blue eyes and the way that curl fell out of his beanie looked so perfect.

Killian - "Rose?"

Rosie - "Hmm?"

Killian - "Not that I mind, of course, but you're staring"

Rosie - "S-Sorry"

He chuckled and I walked up to the machine to start his treatments. Because he had a tumour in his lungs, he had to take off his shirt so that I could connect the tubes to his chest. I don't know I didn't notice last week, but he had a lot of scars on his chest and abs. I subconsciously traced my finger over one of his scars, and both of our breathing quickened and became heavier. Before I knew it, my lips were attached to his. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, but I kept thinking about Zane, so I pulled away.

Rosie - "I-I'm s-sorry"

Killian - "It's, um, it's okay"

We both smiled and I noticed his cheeks turned slightly red. We were talking for a bit while his chemo was going, and then he said it.

Killian - "Um Rosie can I... tell you something?"

Rosie - "Sure"

Killian - "Here goes nothing. So, I like you and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go out on a date with me"

Rosie - "Killie, I like you too and I would love to go on a date with you but I'm not sure if I'm ready for a relationship right now"

Killian - "Oh..."

Rosie - "The truth is, my last relationship didn't work out very well, and even though you seem like a nice guy, I'm still getting over it"

Killian - (sighs) "It's okay. I get it"

Rosie - "Really?"

Killian - "Yes. I don't like it but I would never force you into something you're not ready for"

Then I got an idea.

Rosie - "How about... we can be a summer fling? I can't guarantee that I will be your girlfriend afterwards, but I'll give it a try. Consider it a trial"

Killian - "I'd like that. But if you're not ready, you don't have to do this"

Rosie - "No, I want to. And I'm ready"

Killian - (smiles) "Okay"

Rosie - "Okay"
