Part 11

Killian pov

She turned to Tyler and cried into his chest, while Rosie was still sobbing into mine.

Anderson - "Lucero, why are they both crying?"

Killian - (sighs) "I can't say"

Kyle - "Kil, c'mon, we're your best friends. Why are you keeping something from us?"

Killian - "I really can't say, guys"

Rosie - "Killie. They're gonna find out eventually. Might as well tell them now"

Killian - "Fine. Everyone sit down"

Everyone sat down on the chairs and the sofa.

Tyler - "What's going on, boss?"

Killian - "I um.... I have stage four lung cancer. And we just found out that the treatments have stopped working"

Addison - "Wait. So Rosie is... your doctor?"

Killian - "I mean, yeah, I guess. You guys know how I go to 'visit my aunt' in New Jersey every Sunday?"

They all nodded, confused.

Killian - "That's actually when I go to get my treatments"

Rosie - "And of course the first time I lose a patient, it has to be you"

Killian - "Hey, I mean what I said. I love you"

Rosie - (smiles) "Always and forever"

Kyle - "So, then, you two are dating?"

Addison - "I was right! It wasn't just a one-night stand!"

Anderson - "Wait, you two slept together?"

Rosie - "Literally six times in the last seventy-two hours"

Tyler - "So she's the one you lost your virginity to!"

I nodded and looked at Rosie, who was sniffling her tears"

Violet - "No! I won't let you die in six months!"

I sighed and everyone was tearing up or full-on sobbing.

Kyle - "Why didn't you tell us, Kil?"

Killian - "I don't know, really? I guess I just... thought things would be better this way"

Suddenly the door opened. It was my parents and Taylor.

Christine - "We heard yelling. We just wanted to make sure everything okay, which it doesn't really look like it is"

Killian - "Um... I-I have to tell you guys something..."

Elliot - "Kil, what's wrong?"

Killian - (sighs) "My treatments stopped working. I have six months left"

Taylor - "What...?"

Elliot - "I'm guessing you just told all of them"

He motioned toward my friends who were still sitting in the living room. I nodded.

Christine - "How did you find out? Wouldn't they call us first because you're a minor?"

Rosie - "They're going to call you tomorrow morning to let you know"

Elliot - "I'm sorry, who are you?"

Christine - "Elliot! Don't be rude!"

Rosie - "I'm Rosie"

Taylor - "Wait. Rosie as in...?"

Rosie and I both nodded.

Killian - "And also Rosie as in... my girlfriend"

Elliot - "You finally got a girl?! Go, son!"

Killian - (laughs) "Thanks dad"

Everyone asked questions for a bit and I answered them all as best as I could. Eventually, everyone but Rosie had left. We were sitting together on the sofa.

Rosie - "So, that was eventful"

Killian - (chuckles) "It most certainly was"

Rosie - "How are you doing, though?"

Killian - "I'm... okay, I guess"

Rosie - "I can tell something's wrong. Tell me what's on your mind, Killie"

Killian - (smiles) "How do you always know?"

Rosie - "I know everything. Now, tell me!"

Killian - "I don't want to die, Rose"

I felt tears forming in my eyes. I had never been vulnerable, especially in front of someone. But I felt safe with Rosie, and I trusted her. I started crying and she pulled me into her.

Rosie - "It's okay, Killie. I'm right here"

Killian - "I-I don't wa-want t-to li-live w-without yo-you"

Rosie - "And you won't. I'm going to move to Hullbeck and be with you at all times"

Killian - "Rose, what about-"

Rosie - "No, Killie. I know it's only been a month, but you are my life, and I can't live without you either. So you will not change my mind"

Killian - "I mean, I won't complain about seeing your beautiful face every day"

Rosie - "Even at your lowest, you still find a way to make me smile"

Killian - "What can I say? It's a gift"

She started tearing up again. That night, we both cried and cuddled and laughed together. And in six months, I would be gone. I didn't want to be, but I would be.
